I hope Plumlee finds his game again with you guys. He was a useful player last season.

Side note - want Henson too? Please? Pretty please?

I can't help but think we're going to either trade all of our picks again or use them for a throwaway center

Looking up rim protection stats, Miles is actually much better than I expected.

DFG% by year:
2016-17 - 47.6%
2015-16 - 51.8%
2014-15 - 51.2%
2013-14 - 50.1%

Our defense just got a huge boost. He's also a guy that can play heavy minutes unlike Hibbert/Hawes. I envision him and Frank playing very good off of each other.

Tell me another player, who was considered one of the greats, who wore copious amounts of hair product during a game.

It's an issue.

How long before we sell our second-rounder for cash considerations?

I'm OK with this trade for a number of reasons.
1. Plumlee seems like a better fit. We've seen what happens when players who fit are brought in with McRoberts, Lee, etc.
2. This move actually improves the Hornets cap situation ... as I said elsewhere the Hornets needed to either get over the cap for next summer or get a lot further under it. This move helps that.
3. The team didn't give up anyone that they wanted here long term.

There are some risks and some downside, but I'm cautiously optimistic about this move. I'm going to be interested to see how it works out.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Batum had a positive effect but it was Zeller screening that enabled Kemba. Even if Cody is healthy, we still need something that's not Hawes or Hibbert in the middle to back him up.

Exactly, its not about Miles stats its about how he will help kemba/batum immensely in the PNR.

That in turn will produce better looks for Marv/belly as well as our spacing improves.

Our team defense should improve as well with a mobile defender. Now when cody returns we aren't getting smacked around with many lineups.

We just consolidated two AWFUL players into one potential rotation player.

His deal is NOT good value but no one getting signed this offseason or last is on a good value deal.

Sure, we could have waited two more offseasons but then kemba's deal is running off our books.

Its not a move that comes without risk but our team SUCKED without a legit backup center.

Plus he should be really fresh from sitting thr bench all season

So he's a physical defender, solid paint defensive stats, mobile enough to guard the PNR on D, and excellent in the PNR on O. Yeah, that sounds like a guy that will do well here.

Also a bit of a trend in that our backups are starting to resemble our starters, except for Kemba.

Batum = Belinelli - slow ass moving but super high BBIQ playmaking wing with a deep ball threat
Marv = Frank - floor spacer PF, Frank has more playmaking
Cody = Miles - mobile PNR based big with good defensive instincts
MKG = Lamb - no floor spacing but solid athleticism, length to close out on D, and good rebounding ability

What to do what to do at PG?

I'd much, much rather have Hawes and Hibbert on their 5 and 6 million dollar deals than Plumblee. Hell Hawes will probably even opt out this year and Hibbert is expiring and if he didn't 6 million for him is actually a good deal. You just traded that depth, versatility, and cap flexibility away for a guy with 3 more years at 12.5 a year left that's averaging less than 10 minutes on 21-27 team.

It's not like he's even young either. The guy is the same age as Hawes. 28 years old likely already in decline since all he ever did was jump really high. What an awful trade. At least Hawes could hit 3's and play some PF and you had two pretty comparable players to plumblee in skill and age players on short cheap contracts.

So let me get this straight: whatever guy we acquire sucks. But he's infinitely better than whatever guy we acquire that guy for. But then he sucks until we let him go and his replacement is worse than him. So at some point I'm gonna be a Hornets player.

And, what contract do you think Hibbert/Hawes are going to get this offseason? Its going to be right around the same.

Catch bud, we were so close but just got salary dumped the wrong Bucks C.

I do think I'd prefer Miles to Henson though, if only to rep Duke over UNC.

Cho is getting fired :-)

Seriously, i hate this. Even if Plumlee turns things around, this doesnt get us out of the first round and substantially limits our ability to improve going forward. This is basically the definition of a treadmill move. I think its clear that Cho is trying to save his job by getting that 8th seed.

I was already at my lowest point of interest since following the team and this only makes me less interested. Sure, we'll be a little more watchable in the short term, but i didnt sign up for capping our expectations at first round fodder.

My fandom is in existential crisis. Ive watched 95% of our games over the last five years, but out of our last 5 games ive watched maybe one games total worth of action and my interest is still waning. This feels awful.

Yeah well most of your opinion is wrong.

The Hornets are better today than yesterday without a doubt. Thats inarguable.

The cap concerns are still within reasonable discussion. But when you see what total scrubs are signing for this offseason and how much better the hornets are now, this deal will likely be viewed much more favorably.

I mean id much rather have plumlee on his deal than mozgov or noah on their deals obviously
