I can't see Charlotte getting anything worthwhile to fix this team, so what can we get for Kemba?

I can't see us getting a top 8 pick for an expiring Kemba, lottery teams probably won't want him. So what potential can we get for him?

Dallas are only 2.5 games out of the playoffs and have already spent this years lottery pick, so I like Smith Jr as a realistic option.
Batum and Kemba for Barnes, Smith and cheap filler (say Spalding)
I wouldn't even insist on offloading Batum if we are definitely rebuilding, I would try but wouldn't insist.

Magic, Lakers, Lebron, they are just expected to win now. What can we get for Kemba?
Ball is the obvious pick, but if they want to keep him, Kuzma, Ingram and Hart would all be good options. I might be higher on Hart than many though.
We should be able to get at least 2 young potential players from Lakers.

They're my 2 favourite picks.

I like the possibility of both of those scenarios, also maybe Orlando goes for that 6th seed

Kemba for Bamba, Simmons, protected 1st

Would the Knicks or Suns consider trading their 1st for him?
With his small cap hold, the Knicks could go after somebody like Durant in the offseason. Kemba, Durant, Porzingis, Knox, and Hardaway jr. become a tough team in the East

I was originally a Bobcat fan, the cracks have been forming for years.
Kemba has probably been the best Charlotte player I have watched, but we aren't winning anything with him. We aren't getting any meaningful pieces to add to him, we don't have the assets. (I know the Batum/Frank offer was hard to refuse, but yet they still did)

Lets lose with some excitement and silver lining at least.

If Kemba is traded, then what happens next? I think Lamb and Parker will each bring something. Would Lamb and a 2nd get Fultz? I know, I know, but I really think if he gets away from Philly and comes to a team like the Hornets without the big market pressure that he will be much better. If not, we are out nothing in the long run. Taking a chance on his potential is the type of risk you gotta take if given the chance. Lamb would add needed depth for Philly on the wing

Reminder: Trade deadline is now before All-Star.

I would be shocked if we moved him, even though it's probably the best move for the future. So I went with "B" simply because I can't see them pulling the plug. At this point I'd say "C" is more likely than "A" because you can make one final push on draft day before Kemba hits the market.

Then Kemba walks in the offseason and we become stuck with Love and Batum lol.

Nah, Batum will get sent out in the Love trade, so at least there is a silver lining  .

So Kemba walks and we’re just stuck with Love. We might be able to stretch his contract out, buy him out, or amnesty Love. I don’t see him enthusiastically playing here or anywhere else for that matter.

I'm not saying its what they should do, but its what I think will happen. Trading for Love fits so perfectly with the themes of all the bad decisions this team has made in the last 5 or so years on so many different levels.

i'd give bennett a shot before even considering fultz... fultz's camp withheld medical information from philly no matter how badly philly handled the situation. i'd take him for free but even then its not something i'd be too excited about. i definitely understand the attraction to him as a player still but I was never that sold on him in the first place

kemba and a batum, marv for DSJ, Wes, and Barnes or something similar might be the best we could hope for

Probably not gonna get anything better for Lamb....might as well take a look at him during the rebuild.

Mavs suggestion makes sense. DSJ, Barnes, Barea for walker and Batum. Charlotte Tanks for the remainder of the year, gets some degree of compensation for walker and mavs make their playoff push

This. Most of us understand why moving Kemba is beneficial, but how do you explain it to all the kids in the fanbase? It will cost the franchise more in fan loyalty than the assets we would get back. Only out is if Kemba asks to be traded, but that could cost Kemba fans too. We can't force it.

I oppose trading Kemba, and if he were traded before the All Star game I believe that in the best interest of CHA it MUST be to a Western Conf team so that the likelihood of his playing in the AS game would plummet

however, under the premise and in the spirit of the thread title, these are the kind of trades I would seek for Kemba:

Mudiay, Ntilikina, CLee + 2019 1st from NYK

Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Patrick Beverly + Luc Mbah a Moute from LAC

Trading Kemba would destroy the franchise. We'd suck just bad enough to pick eighth, we'll land another backup player who won't start until the end of his rookie contract and we'd be the Seattle Sonics by then anyway. Kemba keeps us from being the Atlanta Thrashers of the NBA. Worth considering the next time a rage-thread is posted.

I joined RealGM about six years ago, and in that time I've seen people want us to trade Kemba at some point literally every season. While I understand the frustration in sucking on this road trip, it's overreaction city. I figured out the formula for the board's thought process with regard to roster makeup:

- if player is All-Star caliber, he's TOO good to be here and needs to go to a winner
- if player is complete ass, he's TOO bad to be here and needs to get out (MCW, Batum)
- if player is below replacement level on one side of the ball, overrated by the forum on the other side of the ball and tries really hard, he's MKG and he needs to be here forever
