It seems like we are primarily focused on center with our cap space but there is a chance we either solve the center spot with the draft or sign some cheap vets to fill the center role.

Wonder what Tim Hardaway Jr or Kelly Oubre would look like coming off the bench for us.

Also, wouldn't mind bringing in some Vets on super cheap deals that have winning experience like Carmelo or Ariza.

If we are serious about winning we should not waste a bunch of spots on the end of the bench with young players we don't trust to play like Darling, Richards, Riller, Carey and Kobi Simmons types... Last year we played with 14 guys on our roster all year until we signed Wannamaker.

Who says no? Hornets offer Oubre/Hardaway a 2/30 with second year as player option?

Both players do.

I don't see either one willing to sign a 2 year deal

Y’all ready for the Devonte Graham sign and trade for the Lonzo Ball sign and trade. Followed up by the Liangelo Ball signing? Lol

Pelicans could use Graham’s shooting, we could use Lonzo defense and size.

I know everyone thinks this is a bad idea on the surface, but I kinda love it.

Lonzo is big enough to play 1-3, is a good defender, can playmake for others, and shot 38% from three on over 8 attempts per game.

Him and LaMelo obviously have great chemistry. Lonzo could come off the bench as the 3rd guard able to play with both Melo and Rozier. If Melo and Lonzo play well together, we could think about dealing Rozier.

I just hate a scenario where Lonzo signs in NY and in 1 year from now their are rumors that LaMelo wants to go play with his brother and in a big market.

Do Lonzo and LaMelo even want to play on the same team? I know that's what their dad wants, but I'd be curious to hear their opinions. Seems like both like the ball in their hands and might prefer separate teams in similar roles.

The Knicks reporter Ian Begley says we're interested in signing Nerlens Noel. He has about as much offensive game as Biz, but I like him as a situational guy for when going small with PJ at the 5 isn't working. He's the best rim protector available in free agency.

I feel like we only talk about players on our team when it comes to free agency and some outside big men we are interested in. If we draft a center at 11, do we have any idea what guards and wings we are interested in signing haha.

Free Agency starts officially 3 days after the draft, you know that their will be deals in place before that. Things are going to move extremely fast.

A few guys I like for various reasons- Listed in order of how much I like each one for the position and tried to include different

Bigs
Richaun Holmes- Max I would offer is 13 million, probably wont get him.
Nerlens Noel- Can be our starter at Center for 25 mpg, protect rim. Use PJ as small ball center as backup.
Daniel Theis- tough defender and can shoot a better than cody.
Kelly Olynck- Could be a nice scoring backup Center to help our second unit.
Isaiah Hartenstein- Young big who was productive in limited minutes last year, could be worth kicking tires

Point Guards
Lonzo Ball- Make LaMelo happy, improves defense. Probably better than Graham all around.
Devonte Graham- Resign him for stability and his bird rights are cheap for us.
TJ McConnel- cheap backup pg who makes others better and good defender
Dennis Smith Jr- Think he should get one more chance, low risk 3rd pg with scoring potential

Wings
Kelly Oubre- Wings his size that can shoot decent, defend and run are always valuable.
Otto Porter- depends on price, but could see him being undervalued
Dougie McDermott- his shooting would be a nice addition to LaMelo vision, Kispert effect.
Carmelo Anthony- Good mentor, think he could teach PJ and Miles some tricks of the trade.
Josh Hart- does everything well, but nothing spectacular
Justice Winslow- Can create shots for others and tough defender
David Nwaba- Tough defender on wing for cheap
Abdel Nader- Strong 3D guy who probably shoots better than Martin twins

I know that it's really not an insane signing or anything, but if we're able to secure Nerlens Noel, I'll be super stoked about it.

Holmes reportedly is looking for a contract in the 4 year $80M range. Knicks are targeting him. It’s no wonder. Holmes isn’t a superstar but he is by far the best free agent 5 available. Does many things well, good rebounder, shot blocker, scorer within range, occasional 3 point threat, high energy and motor, sets good picks, excellent PnR. I think he’s a great compliment to our team. Can we outbid the Knicks? If they want him worse than we do…no. Plan B: Noel? Like his basic attributes but he is very limited offensively. A step up from Biz yes, or Cody, but I prefer to push hard for a multi-talented Holmes via a big money “WE WANT YOU” offer.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'd be moderately satisfied with two of Noel/Theis/Zeller at the 5 next season. Holmes is the prize but I think we will be outbid. The guys I mentioned should be all available on cheap 2-3 year deals and give us a chance to use our cap space elsewhere when there is a better free agent class while remaining tradable assets.

For sure. It really is funny how much of an upgrade Noel/Theis really is. I mean obv Zeller is pretty solid if he can stay on the court, but the amount of minutes Biz played this past year is lunacy.

Why are some posters so sure that Theis is an upgrade over Zeller and Noel is that much of an upgrade over Biz?

I wonder how much more expensive both Theis and Noel will be than Zeller and Biz - and if that extra cost is really worth it.

I'm not convinced.

I'm a fan of Rozier, every winning team needs a guy like him. But thinking more about who's available in free agency it just makes sense to trade him for a big. I'd rather trade for Adams or Nurkic than sign Rishaun Holmes for $20 million. If we extend Graham we won't be able to keep Rozier next summer anyway.

Cody is probably better than Theis. Noel is better than Biz though, simply because he can catch a ball. He'd be a great lob target.
