There’s no way Peterson can just sit around for this right?
Lots of folks were begging him to give up an asset for a center. Carrying 5 centers on the roster and still not having anyone that can help with supplemental playmaking would have been a terrible mismanagement of the roster.
Let it play out and see what we have, we're not in a rush and rushed decision making is not a smart way to build a team.
We at least need another warm body at pf/centre.
As of right now we only have taj, moose and salaun available. Unless you want Cody playing power forward?

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
Well, Grant's a warrior so I'm sure he comes back from this stronger. Maybe play more as a 3 or 4 like he did in Boston, instead of having to bulk up to go up against 7-footers every night.
Can we use the injury exception to sign Diabate long-term? We obviously need a veteran to replace what Grant does for us in the meantime. Show the youth brigade how to play with craft and physicality, which really sucks to lose.

Like let it play out and see what we have with what? Salaun and hope Miles comes back?
I mean Miles is coming back, not like he's going to be out forever. I think we go a little small and play Cody at some 4, and let's call up Jared Rhoden and see what he looks like.
I think Grant was a huge piece for this team, but il at the same time don't think it makes to rush out and try to immediately give up assets to plug the hole he left.

I do not want us to give up anything for a quick fix. I'm perfectly fine riding out this season as is unless it's picking up additional assets as a facilitator like we have been doing. Miles Nick and I guess Mark are coming back soon. Plus TJ in give him minutes.
Massive loss though. Huge.

Sucks. Can still contribute as a vocal leader, but having a bully/ enforcer type guy in teal was nice.

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
Really sucks to lose Grant. This was the risk in having zero front court depth going into the season and it burned us before the season even started and has only gotten worse. Why are we rostering Rohden and Jefferies again? Also, it's time to try and get something for NSJ. He clearly has no future here.

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
Marcus Morris and Danilo Gallinari are just sitting at home waiting for a call. They aren't good, they probably wouldnt last a month playing Grants role and minutes but they are tall warm bodies and they can both shoot

I assume Gallinari has gone home? I wouldn’t mind him for his passing and shooting.

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
I thought plow had some really good thoughts on Grant Williams today in the podcast he released on youtube. He really highlighted the value grant I was bringing to the team, the fact that for the past two years he's had by far the best net rating on the team. All the little things he does both offensively and defensively. The spacing the screening the outlet in the middle of the floor. And then the severity of the knee injury, which I'm not sure most Hornets fans really understand just how badly he wrecked that knee, Much worse Than just a normal ACL injury, The type of knee injury that will take more than a year to recover from. And very good chance that Grant is never the same player again. Really just a devastating loss. And goes from being a net asset to potentially a bad contract as a result. Of course all that's worst case scenario and hopefully his knee responds well and our trainers get him back to tip top shape.

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
Crazy stat from ESPN. When he went down, Grant "was limiting opposing players to just a 29.2% field goal percentage on isolation plays, the third-best mark in the NBA among stoppers who had faced 20 or more isos so far."

I expect him to be back and as good as ever when he gets back. Medicine has come a long way when it comes to repairing ligiments. He will be good.
This isn't nearly as bad as somebody that needs microfracture because they have no cartlidge left. Get well soon bro.

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
He's not exactly the kind of guy to rely on athleticism either so I'm not super concerned as long as the procedure goes well

The counter argument to that that one of the podcasters made was while it may initially seem like someone like Grant who doesn't rely on athleticism would be less hurt by losing some explosiveness in his game. That someone like Grant who's squeezing every ounce of athleticism out already in order to do what he does can probably least afford to lose a step. I can see both sides of the argument but I would lean towards this would impact grant less than it would most forwards. For example if this happened to Miles Bridges it would tremendously impact his ability as a player. Most players don't have the ability to reinvent themselves like Larry Johnson did after his back injuries.

I guess the other example is Morrison whose career was ruined by losing what little athleticism he had

Re: Mr Nice Guy: The Grant Williams Thread
Losing Williams sucks, but since it looks like the C injuries killed our playoff hopes I'm a less bothered than I would be.
At this point I expect he'll be used to match salary in a trade sometime in 2025 or 2026.
