We've had some injuries for sure in summer league, but they've always struggled because we refuse to put together a cohesive roster. We always neglect a position like point guard or center and play disconnected basketball as a result.

SL is a reflection of how this entire operation has been run for a solid decade now.

Yeah, I think our approach to SL will be telling. If Lee makes good on his promise to coach and we make an attempt to field an actual basketball team around our prospects, it will be a very good sign.

I think the last coach to coach our summer league team was Mike dunlap. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He was trying to implement that full court press lol.

I still love Dunlap. I'll never change on that.

Yeah - had that maniac energy. Just realized he was on Bud's staff in MIL til '23.

(EDIT: re: the maniac energy - may just be that he always reminded me of James Woods)

Is it just me or is his name just super forgettable? I may or may not have googled "Hornets coach" multiple times in the last few weeks
investigate Adam Silver

He needs to go by Chuck Lee, we should speak it into existence.

BRAVO. If you’re going to change the culture, and turn the ship around, start as soon as possible and with your young guns. Set expectations immediately, develop the foundation of plays you’re calling, get them acclimated to your style. Lights the spark!

Fun times. I remember Smith was playing like we picked him #2 overall. Dude was in ball hog mode all summer league.

So how do y’all feel about the endless drive and kick drive and kick drive and kick of Charles Lee’s Boston team? Are you excited for it to come to Charlotte? What do you think.

If anyone says they don't want the success Boston has had they are lying to themselves.

I would imagine Lee is smart enough to adapt his strategy to the personnel. Even if he had Boston level talent, his style likely varies some from his current boss.

I am very excited to see what his vision for our team is. I honestly don’t have a good read on the best path forward for this core.

Hopefully the vision is whatever he had in Boston as they are about to win a championship.

Wish the class had multiple elite wings. Would have loved to mirror our team with the 2 wing Brown/Tatum thing. Miller is a good start, but we need to match him talent wise at the other wing spot. I don't see that in this draft sadly.

To this point, we could see Charlotte be players for Hauser/Kornet. Those would be good depth pieces and we know how coaches are with 'their guys'.

Info splash on our new coach via RealGM header. Says Charles Lee is working Hornets when not focused on his Celtics:

Boston Celtics assistant coach Charles Lee is a busy man these days. Lee is trying to help Boston win a record 18th NBA Finals, while also gearing up to take over as the next head coach of the Charlotte Hornets.

"The biggest thing is focusing on the right now, which I need to. When my Celtics hat is on, I’m fully engaged. That is where my mind is at," Lee said. "When I leave the arena, all of the sudden you have to think about your staff and connecting with your players and what does the training camp and summer league look like. I’ve been making pretty good progress."

Lee has met with several Hornets players since getting the job last month, both in person and virtually. He's also had an opportunity to visit workouts, plus several Hornets attended a Celtics playoff game. Lee called building connections with his players his "biggest commitment" when he has had downtime during the Celtics Finals run.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Interesting piece on Joe Mazzulla:

Read on Twitter

Very curious to see what similarities or differences we see under Lee.
