Those teams that jumped us are playoff teams who had injuries.

Seems like they rewarded the teams who actually are playing for something.

I feel bad for us in the sense is how do we improve as a franchise when we are constantly getting the bad end of the stick in game changing drafts. Last time we had game changers we were actually a consistent playoff team with Zo and LJ.

The problem I had with this draft is all 3 teams with the best odds all dropped out of the top 3. Just doesn't make sense.

I'm totally fine in general with pick 4, but that being the top 3 is seriously insane. Like, if you were handpicking a top 3 to make things seems as fishy as possible, it would be exactly Dallas, SA, and Philly...

And ruined our future Dallas Lotto pick in the process.

So it will be vj, tre, fears, Ace, kon, Kasper, queen or malauch

Weirdly, I'm more annoyed at who moved up than I am that we didn't.

But yeah, if I'm Jeff I'm offering Miami or Dallas pick, plus the mystery team 2026 pick to move up from 4 to 2. But spurs for sure offer castle, harper and vassell for giannis, right?

They need to keep Castle if they’re also trading 2, but it might come to that. This league does what it wants to do.

I actually think Edgecombe could be the 2nd best player in this draft class when all is said and done. I've been excited about the prospect of adding him to the team since the beginning of the year.

But that still doesn't make me any less angry about what the NBA has done to itself. I think just about all of us here love the game of basketball and want to see fair, competitive basketball played at the highest level. We aren't getting that and it's sad.

Exactly how I feel. I love the idea of getting Edgecombe. Its the way it happened. All top 3 teams falling out? Fn shady.

I still don't actually think the lottery is rigged and I never will until we get some evidence besides suspicious results, but this also has to be the most suspicious outcome in the history of the draft lottery, right? I can't even blame people for speculating its rigged at this point.

I was just about to mention this.

Not only did we get screwed, but that first rounder Dallas owes us is now immeasurably less valuable than it was last night. This was literally about the worst case scenario picking at #1 for us being Dallas and guess what happened.

Honestly I think I'd have rather got the 7th pick if it meant Dallas not move up into the top 2.

Agreed. Poor comment Walt, funnily enough while we simultaneously talk the crazies off the ledge in other threads. LOL

LOL we moved up once, moved down twice, in the last three years while having some of the best lottery odds. Thanks I guess, Skeletor? We should be grateful for our farm team crumbs I suppose!

Yeah that's kind of a strange take considering how many folks have already left, now this, and they're gonna be mega ass again next year.

I can’t explain the NBA’s erection for the Spurs. It’s a bigger market than it seems is course, but it’s not so much their market size…it’s all about EYEBALLS. The NBA is built on marketing superstars and personalities. It also rewards teams where the ratings push league eyeballs and revenues higher.

Charlotte is NOT an important franchise to the league brass. More important is the Mavs franchise not suffering a fan and status meltdown after dealing the Lakers a MASSIVE lifeline. The fallout was unexpected, and Skeletor entered panic mode. Hell, had Dallas not done so much for the precious Lakers they probably would have rewarded the Spurs AGAIN!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

When we inevitably trade LaMelo I truly do not know who will be a Hornets fan. I’m sure people will still go just for the spectacle, but it’s hard to think of a single reason why someone would be a die hard fan.

We didn't move down in 2022?

We moved down one spot this year, moved up 4 the year before, and didn't move at all the year before.

ETA: forgot about 2024. Meh.

Off topic, but Zion looked slim and fit at the lottery.

Would not be mad at a Zion trade. This franchise needs a spark.

Well Okc put their roster together without to many top picks and it is the envy of the league at the moment. Chet was number 2 but we have a #2 and a #3 on the roster right now.

Stick with the Okc plan, be patient, keep collecting future assets.

I know everybody wants to win now, because we have been losing for the last 20 years. We only started collecting future picks recently. We need to stick with that.

I truly don’t care about who we may or may not be able to get at #4. It truly feels like the only thing saving this franchise is landing a true, franchise altering talent. Tonight felt like our best chance in a while to get one. I’m sure someone in the Bailey, VJ, Kon, Tre, Maluach, Jok, etc tier ends up being really good but I have zero faith in our front office to find that player and zero faith in our coaching staff to develop him.
