The Gordon Hayward Comp I have seen is also quite bad.

Gordon was 2 inches taller, 1.5 inch longer wingspan.
Gordon had 19 dunks his soph year (not tracked freshman) Kon had 2 dunks this year.
Gordon FTr as a freshman was 47.8%, 57.9% as soph. Kon was 33.9%
Gordon Blk% as a freshman was 3.5%, then 2.8% as soph. Kon was 0.6%
Gordon averaged 6.5 rpg and 8 rbp his 2 years, Kon averaged 4 rpg.

Gordon is a much better comp for Cooper Flagg then Kon.
Gordon clearly a much better athlete if you looks at rebounds, blocks, dunks, free throw rate along with the eye test.

Gordon also shot 29% from three as a soph so it isn't even like the shooting portion of the comp makes sense. Basically the comp is he was semi good white guy that was a top 10 pick and so is Kon. End of actual comparison in play style.

Looks like 1 person on this board would be open to selecting Kon. We have 6 pages of conversation about a guy nobody wants - funny. NBA.com has him consensus #7 and the reality remains one of VJ, Ace, or Tre will be there at 3.

I would take Sorber or Queen before Kon - an outlying opinion, for sure, but it's the one I have :D

This thread is wild lol

If we take Kon at #4 I think I'm officially done with the franchise.

Maybe all this Kon talk here a psyops to make sure we all talk about how much we don't wanna draft him and take away focus from us tearing each other apart in VJ vs Tre debates.

  Considering some previous drafts that could be vicious

Knipples is being discussed a lot because he has lots of skills, is ranked within the upper half of the lottery or better, analysts are giving him a lot of cred, and most here are very familiar with him via being part of Duke. I like him and think he has a future on a good team.

But I’d not take him at 4. I might take him at 6 or 7. Only team in the top 4 said to have any real interest was purely speculative projection from a writer, saying Kon’s analytics would appeal to Sixers management (they theoretically would trade back to get him).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

My guess is he ends up in New Orleans which I think is a good fit. The amount of gravity that zion generates at the rim would create a lot of spacing. Plus that team has a lot of wing defenders that can help compensate

This is the first team I think should be seriously considering him. I personally think New Orleans should probably trade Zion and start from scratch again, but if they plan on continuing to build around Zion then Kon seems like a great fit on offense for them.

Just in case you're referring to me, I said I wouldn't bet on him and wouldn't be opening to picking him. All I meant to convey is I can see a universe where he's a fringe All Star with a skillset at least somewhat similar to (though much less effective than) a truly elite player, a la Jokic and Sengun.

Ha, no, not meant for you - just a general observation that he's getting an inordinate amount of attention for a guy highly unlikely to be in the mix for us. Poor ole' Fears can't get past page 1. (and think it's DriveandKick that wants Kon at 4?)

Can only shoot when open and off the catch, there is just no case based on these stats or film he is the best shooter in the class. Tre Johnson shooting is sooo much better.

Yup. Kon off dribble needs to improve. It was bad. Its why tre is higher. He did say he's aware of this. He admitted it was hard for him last year. Said he had been working hard on getting better at it. Whether it improves, who knows, but I like people who admit faults/weaknesses. Too many kids are taught that admitting weakness is a fault. That's silly.

Unrelated. Kons strength is undervalued. Being strong as a defender and even on drives is often equally important as length. He's not gonna get pushed.

If VJ goes 3 and we trade down to pick up another asset and a mid lotto pick then Kon would be worth the risk. At 4 we need more. It's VJ or Harper for me.

I just don't think he gets to the NBA and all of sudden becomes this off the dribble shooting savant whether he works on it or not. This is why myself and others think he is more of just a spot up shooter in the league, because that is what the film and stats show.

His best landing spot is playing with 2-3 stars that will give him wide open looks all year, even for the Hornets we aren't awesome at generating wide open three looks like he got playing on that loaded Duke team.

Barlowe has Kon 10th on his big board, just had him 12th in his "what I would do if I were the team" Mock Draft.
