I'm pretty sure that James Young will be available with the Portland pick.

I wouldn't be so sure of that if you're just basing that off of the current mock drafts. James Young has looked like arguably Kentucky's best player all season, and he did nothing to disprove that notion in the two Final Four games

I think Young will definitely be available after pick 20 but that is just my opinion.

Cleveland's routing of Detroit tonight was the death knell for any chance of Detroit reclaiming the 9th spot this year. Here's to hoping this Piston's suck as much, if not worse next season

Roughly a 20% chance we get the pick anyway.

^ Yep. Always a chance the lotto Gods smile on someone like Memphis or Minnesota and propel them into the top 3 bumping the Pistons back to #9. With Charlotte's luck though, it will probably be Detroit who moves up

So there is a 20% chance someone jumps them?

Thats a lot higher than I thought. Pistons board would shut down if that happened

Lol it's close but I was rounding.

19.9% chance they get first pick.
19.5% chance we get Detroit's pick.

worst case scenario

1. bobcats make playoffs, face heat, get swept
2. blazers make playoffs with a pick in mid 20s headed our way
3. pistons finish worse than 9th, then have a major turn around next year

anything else to add to that list?

I think the worst case was not making the playoffs and still losing our pick. But at this point, yeah, facing Miami would be disastrous, though Chicago is looking like the best team in the east so 7th may not be so bad if it means a matchup with Indy.

Side note: The Portland pick can still land anywhere from 23-27, the top east teams have been so bad that Portland can still tie them yet only be fourth or fifth in the west.

If Golden State beats Portland today, then wins their last two, while the Blazers lose to LAC Wednesday (all very possible), we can still get the 23rd pick via tiebreaker draw.

Big whoop I know, but better than picking 24+.

At the 8 spot there is a 17.6% chance that the Pistons move down to the 9th or 10th spot, thus relinquishing the pick despite getting the number 8 position.

Not sure where 19.9% comes from, but its not a huge difference.

The Pistons have moved down in 2 of the last 3 lotteries. I'm ALMOST hoping we lose it because I believe we WILL be equally bad next year unless we can unload Josh Smith (lol at the notion of benching him being a tank attempt, he's lost so many more games for us than he's won), and next year moving up to 2 or 3 won't save us.

4) We offer Evan Turner any kind of contract more than 4M a year.
5) We sign Gordon Hayward to a big enough deal where Utah declines the QO.
6) We trade MKG for something stupid.
7) Kemba demands a big extension and we refuse it for some reason, angering Kemba.
8) We let Tolliver, CDR, and McBob leave, severely disrupting chemistry.
9) MJ forgets we're not tanking and fires Steve Clifford and waives Al Jefferson.

I would hope that if we were bad enough that we would obviously not make the playoffs in the lousy East that the FO would come to their effing senses and go into tank mode to ensure we wouldn't lose our pick but you never know with these jokers.

Playoffs are a different beast, I'm not going to take anybody lightly. All we need is a classic Lolcat game for the Pacers or whomever to right their ship and beat the bejeezus out of us.
