Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Lamar's pick)
Gana's Team Diop
Kareem Abdul Jabbar 1978-79
Chris Bosh 2009-10
Larry Bird, 1984-1985
Dwyane Wade 2006-07
Chris Paul 2005-06
Dominique Wilkins 1983-84
Vlade Divac 2002-03
Gerald Wallace 2004-05
Shaun Livingston 2014-2015
Nick Van Exel 2002-03
Kermit Washington 1979-79
Tony Allen 2004-05
Jim Jackson 2004/05
My team is pretty much set, I don't think anyone can steal my last 3pt shooting guard. I'm happy with the balance and mix.
What an epic league it would be though with so many ridiculous teams.

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Lamar's pick)
even though this pretty much doesn't matter, I spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out who I want my 13th man to be. let it be some additional hustle and energy... with the last pick in the Scavenger Hunt Draft I select...

George hill, Hoosier, 2012-13.
Big guard who can play both spots, great defender, solid 3pt shooter, fits well next to magic.
14ppg, 4rpg, 5apg, 37% from 3.

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (YB's pick)
I'm taking Jim Jackson 2004/05 for closer.
He seemed like such an exciting prospect when playing alongside Mashburn and Kidd, turned into a 12 team journeyman.
Was shooting 43.9% from three on they year I'm drafting him, which will be his role off the bench.
10.5 pts, 4.2 Rebs, 2.9 asts.

I can't wait for my lineup of
Curry
Korver
Pierce
Leonard
Bonner
Combined 939 threes made. Combined 27.6 attempts per game. Nobody shoots below 40%. Combined 43.8% from behind the arc.
Gonna have a 156 ORTG and a 152 DRTG

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Ian's pick)
Getting a head start while I have some time
Team Fats
PG: Magic Johnson 85-86, 18.8p, 5.9r, 12.6a, 1st team All NBA, All-Star
SG: Ray Allen 08-09, 18.2p, 3.5r, 2.8a, 41% from 3, 199 3s made, All-Star
SF: Michael Cooper 86-87, 10.5p, 4.5a, 38.5% from 3, DPOY, 1st team All-Defense
PF: Karl Malone 96-97, 27.4p, 9.9r, 4.5a, NBA MVP, 1st team All-NBA, 1st team All-Defense, All Star
C: Moses Malone 82-83, 24.5p, 15.3r, 2.0b, NBA MVP, Finals MVP, 1st team All-NBA, 1st team All-Defense, All Star
G: Manu Ginobili 07-08, 19.5p, 4.8r, 4.5a, 40.1% from 3, 156 3s made, 6th MotY, All-Star
G: Otis Birdsong 80-81, 24.6p, 3.6r, 3.3a, 1.2s, 54%FG, 2nd team All-NBA, All-Star
F: Tracy Murray 95-96, 16.2p, 4.3r, 42% from 3
F: Larry Johnson 91-92, 19.2p, 11.0r, 3.6a, 49%FG, Rookie of the Year
C: Andrew Bogut 14-15, 6.3p, 8.1r, 2.7a, 1.7b, 56%FG, 2nd team All-Defense
Util: George Hill 12-13, 14.2p, 3.7r, 4.7a, 37% from 3
Util: Andre Roberson 15-16, 4.8p, 3.6r
Util: Udonis Haslem 13-14 3.8p, 3.8r
On offense everything runs thru Magic, the greatest point guard/point forward in NBA history and the undisputed king of the fast break. After rebounds Magic will push the ball up the floor as quickly as possible looking for transition points featuring Karl "the Mailman" Malone, one of the greatest fast break finishers in NBA history, Larry Johnson, the high flying rookie from UNLV or spot up shooters like Ray Allen and Tracy Murry. In the halfcourt, Karl Malone will operate in the high post, featuring his passing, while Magic and Moses look to operate in the post and Ray and Cooper spot up for 3 in the corners. Moses will punish even the biggest of teams on the offensive glass as the greatest offensive rebounder in NBA history.
Defensively the starting lineup features 3 1st team All Defense players. Cooper will usually guard the opposing point guard, unless his stellar defense is needed to shut down a wing. This allows Magic to matchup on a bigger opponent. This team will have no trouble on the defensive glass with Moses, Karl and Magic all grabbing their fair share of rebounds.
Off the bench, super sub Manu Ginobili will take over playmaking duties when Magic is off the floor. This allows Otis Birdsong to function as the scoring guard. If a stronger defender is needed, George Hill can easily step in and provide a strong backcourt defender who can knock down 3s and run the offense. The 2nd unit will look to rebound and run as much as the starters, with deadly finishers like Larry Johnson and Manu. Murray and Manu provide plenty of spacing for a scoring machine like Birdsong to get into the lane and hit his array of floaters and pull up jumpers. Bogut anchors the bench defensively and also adds another playmaker in the halfcourt, where he and Manu will hook up on numerous backdoor cuts. Roberson give the team another long defender who can cover any of the leagues premier offensive wings.
While this team wants to push the pace and score in the open court, its also a very balanced team on both sides of the floor, with a good mix of size, shooting, rebounding, defense and great passers all over the floor. There are selfless, high basketball IQ, low maintenance, NBA champions all of the floor. No egos, no troublemakers, just guys that know how to win on the biggest stage (plus Karl) - Magic, Moses, Manu, Allen, Cooper, Bogut - all NBA champions and even guys like LJ with NCAA championships.
So much balance allows the team to play many styles, such as:
Fast Break: Magic, Ray, Manu, LJ, Karl
Bully Ball: Magic, Cooper, LJ, Karl, Moses
Defense: Hill, Cooper, Roberson, Karl, Moses (Bogut)
Spacing: Manu, Ray, Murray, LJ, Magic or even smaller Hill, Ray, Manu, Murray, Magic or throw Cooper in for anyone for more defense, but maintaining 3pt shooters
Buckets: Magic, Birdsong, Ray (Manu), Karl, Moses

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Ian's pick)
Here's my "Best of the Rest" lineup
PG: Kevin Johnson 89-90, 22.5ppg, 11.4apg, 2nd team All NBA, All Star -> Stone Hands
SG: Randy Smith 78-79, 20.5ppg, 4.8apg (had been All Star season prior) -> Forgotten
SF: Adrian Dantley 80-81, 30.7ppg, 6.4rpg, 4.0apg, 2nd team All NBA, All Star -> Hoosier
PF: Charles Barkley 92-93, 25.6ppg, 12.2rpg, 5.1apg, NBA MVP, 1st team All NBA, All Star -> All NBA
C: Bob Lanier 76-77, 25.3ppg, 11.6rpg, 2.0bpg, All Star -> Southpaw
G: Calvin Murphy 78-79, 20.3ppg, 4.3apg, All Star -> Closer
G: Sam Cassell 1994-95, 9.5ppg, 4.9apg -> Champ Bench
F: Tony Campbell 89-90, 23.2ppg, 5.5rpg -> Expansion
F: Antoine Walker 97-98, 22.4ppg, 10.2rpg, 3.3apg, All Star -> Stop Shooting
C: Ralph Sampson 83-84, 21.oppg, 11.1rpg, 2.4bpg, ROY, All-Star -> Rookie
Util: TR Dunn 85-86, 5.0ppg, 4.6rpg (had been 2nd team All Defense 3 seasons prior) -> Invisible
Util: Josh McRoberts 2013-14, 8.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 4.3apg -> White Stiff
Util: Antoine Carr 87-88, 8.8ppg, 3.5rpg -> Hack
This team was a lot more fun with Westbrook at PG but KJ is still awesome. This team, especially with RW (when I put it together) was just a bunch of bullys who would play with a massive chip on their shoulder. I have no idea how Dantley and Barkley can exist in the same lineup, but it'd be fun as well to watch. Two 6'5" guys just man handling their defender in the post.

Would think the starting centre for the most successful team ever would deserve an honourable mention for white stiff.
(GSW lost that claim when they lost the final)

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Ian's pick)
OK, Next step...
Everyone do a write-up on their team, depth chart, highlight team strengths and playing style - similar to what I did for Team Fats. Once those are up, we can have a back and forth where we can ask each other questions about each others teams, perhaps bring up any concerns. Once everyone has had a chance to say their peace, we will have a vote.
That's how we have done it in the past. Feel free to suggest any other ideas.

The number of teams is preventing us from doing a decent playoff? Or is that thing also in the future? I think I remember there being voting on specific head-to-head match-ups.

I think we've done it both ways, as head to head matchups and as simple vote. Like you said, 10 teams would make it hard to do head to head. We could take the teams with the top 2 votes and do a head to head that way, same for a 3rd place game with teams 3 and 4.

I think that's a good compromise!
Is there a date that we need have these writeups done? Work is getting a little crazy so having a deadline would help me schedule the time.

No rush. What if we put a deadline of Thursday for the write ups, then we can start some interactive Q and A following.
