I would heavily consider throwing a decently big offer at Tari Eason. I don't know if the Rockets can afford to pay him with all the big contracts they have so they might not be able to match. Its kind of scary because of his injury history and his playstyle, but hes the exact type of player they need and probably the only good fitting player they have a chance of signing from this class.

I think if the Hornets renounce Sextons cap hold (or trade him) they can get to around 20 mil under the cap.

Yeah around 20-22 million, but that doesn't include a rookie contract.
Which will be 6-12 million depending on where we draft in the lottery, plus we will have another late first via Suns/Orlando that will make around 3 million.

So I think a safe assumption is subtract around 10 million for rookies, so we are at about 10 million in cap space as it stands now.

Yeah, in the general discussion thread I posted their cap table for next year without Sexton and Connaughton and included their rookie cap holds based on the current draft position for their pick and Orlandos and it came out to just under 10 million in cap space.

I was under impression that the room MLE could be combined with normal cap space, but I don't think thats actually the case, so theyd have to trade one of Josh Green or Grant Williams to clear enough space to make a competitive offer for Eason.

I would totally be down to get off either of those contracts assuming they have a plan to actually use the cap space. I also wouldn't mind keeping either of them. Grant was kind of nice on this team but who knows what he'll be after that injury. Green isn't very good, but also is pretty easy to slot into a bench rotation because he shoot 3s decently well and defends a little bit.

We are much better off to use a trade now rather than wait for FA to make an addition because you can send guys like Sexton, Connaughton out as expiring money and just that alone is 28 million you can use to match salary vs having a 1/3 of that in cap space this summer. Plus we have a lot of picks we can add to the deal, even if that means they are only 2nds.

I assume every white player on this team is a member of the Knueppel family.

ESPN on Terry showing up in federal court and some of the potential fallout:
https://www.espn.ph/nba/story/_/id/47229222/terry-rozier-investigation-shines-spotlight-nba-trade-protocols-heat-hornets

In our conversations around the league, there were differing opinions on whether the investigation should have been disclosed. Multiple executives called it a "gray area" with no clear answer.

"On one hand, you understand why the Heat should have the right to know," the executive said. "On the other hand, what happens if the NBA discloses [the investigation] even if there is no violation, and the acquiring team backs out of the trade?"

"It's not directly called for [to disclose it]," a third team executive said. "You'd think to be a good partner, you'd disclose that, but it's not necessary as part of the trade. If I'm in Charlotte's shoes, I understand why they didn't."

Miami can file a grievance with the league for not being informed about the investigation before the trade. Sources told ESPN that the Heat haven't decided. Despite the trade occurring nearly two years ago, no statute of limitations exists on filing a grievance.

"It feels good to be wanted." - Mark Williams.

Ouch!

In other news, imagine if we'd gotten Sengun for Borrego to play with. :noway:
