Cody Zeller @CodyZeller 32m
I'm trying to convince my teammates that we're flying to Paradise today. I don't know why they aren't as excited as me!

Because they see the ass whooping that awaits them. Al is probably having nightmares of Hibbert.
Humble yourself.

His shot not uglier than Nicholson's. But then again Nicholson has arc in his fugly shot.
his form is fine he just needs to get better arc, Dirk shoots from behind his head and that thing is automatic, just get more arc and he'll be fine

Re: Welcome To The Bobcats: Cody Zeller
Rookies who are playing but not producing as expected
Cody Zeller, Bobcats
Bennett has the worst true shooting percentage in basketball, but Zeller is pretty close. Only a struggling Kevin Garnett and rookie guard Phil Pressey have a lower TS% than Zeller among players who have played in roughly three-quarters of their team's games at over 12 minutes a game. And that is hugely disappointing for Zeller, the No. 4 pick, whose shooting and overall offensive skill were seen as positives in the months leading up to the draft.
The good news for Zeller is that he is trying to make an impact inside near the rim. The bad news is he is struggling to finish there. He is making less than half his shots from close range and drawing few fouls, and this is where his short arms are a real problem. While Bennett can do so much to help himself play better, Zeller does not have nearly as many options. He is already in great shape, for example.
That's not to suggest Zeller can't become an excellent perimeter shooter, which probably will happen one day. But big men who can't protect the rim or finish around it in half-court action are not top-five picks (or even lottery picks). Zeller has the athleticism to be a beast in transition, where the less crowded lane would make it easier for him to finish shots. But Charlotte plays at a slow pace, giving him fewer chances to engage that part of his talent.

If you had told me Michael Carter-Williams was going to be in the running for the ROY (let alone leading it) I'd have mocked the hell out of you. Him and Adams are like the only two rookies even coming close to expectations right now. Then there's Nate Wolters.

investigate Adam Silver

Note: Cody Zeller is currently ranked 19th on David Thorpe's Top 50 Rookie Class. Similar players, Mason Plumlee (#2), Steven Adams (#3), Vitor Faverani (#4), Pero Antic (#13), Kelly Olynyk (#15), and Rudy Gobert (#18) are ranked ahead of him
Cody Zeller has moved up to 18th on David Thorpe's Rookie Rankings

MCW won't be there for long. Trey Burke will win ROY. This whole draft class has been a snoozefest

Re: Welcome To The Bobcats: Cody Zeller
i think Oladipo will end up with ROY, Zeller will end up averaging 8ppg 5reb .5stl .5blk and 1ast shooting 44%

Cody get's zero respect from the refs which hurts his %. Next year he will start drawing fouls near the rim and his % and pts will go way up.

Re: Welcome To The Bobcats: Cody Zeller
I am kinda satisfied with Cody's progress. Mentally, he's started to pick it up. Physically, we'll just have to wait until the next season... Technique-wise, maybe he improves his jumper, and even hit a few threes. Not that I expect it this year, but it would be nice to see. IMHO he's got potential to develop a solid shooting.
But what I really like with this kid is that he's got heart!
Cody wiil be just fine

Re: Welcome To The Bobcats: Cody Zeller
his shot is looks fine, no hitch, pretty fast for a 7 footer, jumps well, he just has to get used to shooting during a game i think he'll be a solid shooter next season especially working with Price, could be a very hard cover with a jumper and his speed

That, and maybe a bit of arc

Dirk does not shoot behind/beside his head unless he's doing some ridiculous fadeaway. His body is just turned away a bit more. When you shoot beside your head, you're basically shooting with crooked sights. You can compensate after you adjust for your first miss but you don't get many opportunities in a game to adjust after you just missed a shot. He'll struggle creating his own jump shot if he doesn't work on this alignment problem.

Big difference.

Zellers shot is more than OK for a 7 foot rookie.

Re: Welcome To The Bobcats: Cody Zeller
i dont think a Zeller needs to create his own jumper, if he is he will be in isolation which is probably a bad thing and he can just drive by his defender he is to fast

I think his form is very good for the most part.

Oh OK. I agree. His form is OK. It's better than David Lee's. Actually I think that's a good parallel to compare him to. I wonder what was the success rate of Lee's jumper as a rookie.
