Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
Klutch is probably steering him to freaking LA or whatever. Hopefully we can sign him for the other Bridges deal.

Hang on - we don't know what discussions have taken place. This might not be a reflection of the FO at all.
Bridges isn't obligated to accept any offer in front of him. He might be willing to bet on himself this season and look to seriously cash in next summer.
Is your expectation that the FO just break the bank and give him a max offer to ensure he stays?
If he really doesn’t want to be here, that would’ve been mentioned by now. I know it’s possible Rich will demand the world, but Mitch has already struck out once this offseason in keeping someone vs downgrading.

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
CHARLOTTE IS THE PLACE BRIDGES WANTS TO BE
Bridges doesn’t want to go anywhere else, though. He’s on track for a lucrative deal he hopes keeps him in Charlotte, but knowing he’s potentially closing in on life-changing money doesn’t move him much. He’s not about to stiffen up.

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
Bridges is eligible for a rookie extension, a deal that must be completed by Monday. Beating that deadline is unlikely and if the sides can’t come to an agreement, the fourth-year forward will have to wait until he becomes a restricted free agent in July to negotiate a new contract.
With a game that’s still blossoming and determination to continuously improve, he’s certainly not going to come cheap. He’s essentially achieved greater heights up to this point than even the team’s brass imagined, proof of the lunch-pail mentality established in his hometown of Flint, Mich. — the city he has tattooed on his body to serve as a constant reminder of where he comes from.
Monumental leaps were taken by Bridges in 2020-21. Despite coming off the bench for 48 of 67 games he appeared in, he established several career bests. He increased his overall shooting (50%), jumper beyond the 3-point line (40%) and rebound average per game (six). All that to go with 12.7 points per game, merely down slightly from the 13 he averaged in 2019-20, and he became more of a controlled aggressor and facilitator.
The 11 double-doubles he recorded last season — including eight as a reserve — tied for the second most in the league and was tops for a reserve in a season in franchise history.

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
And his hope is the Bridges-Ball show continues here for a very long time.
“I’m excited,” Bridges said. “I’m definitely excited because I know I’m going to continue getting better, he’s going to continue to keep getting better. And I think that is going to be scary for the league in the next few years.”

PJ’s the new MKG. They’re not getting rid of him. He sucks just the right amount.

I continue to be confused as to why, after just seeing Miles suck year 2 and then blast off year 3, we're dunking on PJ just before his year 3.

PJ’s NBA career peaked in his debut. That’s why. He’s not shown that he’s got anywhere he can improve. At no point has he shown improvement.
And if we weren’t too cheap to keep Miles, we wouldn’t need to worry about it. But instead we’ll let him walk, sign someone 1/4 as good for 4/5 of the money next summer and I’ll get replies like “relax, Mitch has a plan” like always. Lather, rinse, repeat since 1988.

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
Until I hear otherwise I'm going to assume it's Rich Paul that stopped this getting done for 4 years $80-90 million.

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
I wish we could find out if it were Rich steering Miles to the Lakers, or Mitch and MJ being cheap. Regardless, it’s another L.

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
I'm going to say this again. Not extending Miles is right move if Klutch is demanding a JJJ level contract. Unless Miles improves by leaps and bounds, he's not earning that as a RFA next summer. I think he will wind up getting $15-20M in the end.
investigate Adam Silver

Dang! Several deals last minute...does still look unlikely that Miles will be one of them though.

this is always my take when folks chicken little respond to personnel moves
It takes two to tango.
I'm nervous even paying Miles $20mil per year. I have no problem trading his ass or letting him walk if he wants a max contract or anything much higher than that.
He's basically a borderline All-Star, assuming he can play a full season at the same production as last year's purple patch. Otherwise, it's an easy way to lock into a bad contract.
