The numbers were starters only (i.e., without Biz except for a small portion of 2014-15 season).

There's nothing to massage. Those stats were without Biz on the floor.

Fact still remains that we're giving up a lot of 3pt attempts because our guard's are sinking in more to help Cody. We didn't have the sink that much in with Fat Al because he held his own but didn't contest anything. But Cody is smallish for a C so that's what we've been doing to compensate for it. I said it earlier in the year and I'm saying it now with a bigger sample size. Touché.

I think you're confusing cause with effect. It's not exactly them "sinking in to help". It's the way we play with Cody. This is a usual, everyday possession with the starters.

There isn't anything wrong with Zeller meeting the ball handler so high. His mobility allows us to put some pressure on the offense, not just lay back in a conservative scheme where Al drops back and hopes for the best.

I like putting pressure on the rim runner and making him catch the ball with a wing already in his face. If you watch such possessions closely, opposing bigs frequently get into trouble when catching the ball and having to put it on the floor/attempt a lay-up around Batum/Lee/Kemba. If the guard (in this case Reggie Jackson) swings the ball, our wings are good enough to close out on and return home on the recipient (in this case it could have been Morris) while the ball is in the air.

It would be even better if we had MKG on the court, the expert weak-side fly-in wing.

Pretty cool article from Lamar about a random game where Van Exel was wrongly given 23 assists, should have been closer to 15-17, but the official scorekeeper felt like being a bad employee that night.

Boston winning 45 games is a massive achievement for that roster. Brad Stevens deserves coach of the year just getting it to the playoffs.

Yeah, he did really well but Steve Clifford and Terry Stotts didn't do too shabby either.

Cheers!

I have enjoyed the ability to use the blog for all kinds of material regarding vintage NBA. I probably have a lot more in the tank yet haven't been creative and smart enough to write up and make videos for stuff like this.

I love how the announcer is like: "who cares that that psycho is about to beat the **** out of Henson. Just ignore them and inbound the ball already."

He really isn't that different than when he played in Charlotte and today's game should prove to be an outlier to his season as a whole. While I was one of Biyambo's biggest fans when he was here, he is sort of like a rook in chess. It's a good defensive piece, but it is a really basic piece that has a limited moveset as compared to a queen(batum) or knight(lee).

My guess is that the FO and coaching staff want a complete overhaul in philosophy and Biz doesn't fit that?

Not that Biz doesn't fit the philosophy, just the fact that he is replaceable down the road and isn't developed enough currently to fill the role that was required. His game is rough but obviously lots of good qualities are present. If the team had elected to keep Biyambo, his impact on the team would likely have been negligible and I would venture to guess that his game wouldn't mesh quite well with the current bench players.

Bringing in Howard was talked about during the trade deadline and that shows the team is interested in upgrading the center position and I would say Howard is an upgraded version of Biyambo.

Cool, but how would he fit? Wouldn't he be kinda like Psycho?

He's a lot better as a Raptor. Casey plays him to his strengths instead of throwing him in the doghouse for chasing offensive rebounds. Catching, gathering, not travelling as much, much better at free throws than as a Hornet.

There's a whole thread on the Raptors board debating on trading Valanciunas to resign Biz. It's funny see another fan base going through the same arguments as Hornets fans did.
