Since Lamb is likely gone and Tony retired, I think our main priority should be picking up a guy that can handle the ball and thus take atleast some pressure off Kemba, all this barring Kemba stays of course. I think Jarrett Culver fills our need the best but it doesn’t look like Mitch will be able to get a trade up deal done.
We should probably come out of this draft with a NAW, Langford, or Porter. NAW is my pick I guess, he may be the least sexy pick of the bunch I really think he could help now, and has the least bust potential, though my heart really likes Langford. Knowning the Hornets draft history though, we are gonna pick Washington and he is gonna look exactly like Miles did last year while playing the same exact role
If our objective is a shooting guard: Langford has a very low 3 point % at the college level, so I’m not wanting him. Porter has a funky shooting stroke (kids push shot from the chest) that will hurt him in the NBA. Hopefully Little falls to us at 12 if we want a shooter (and we do need a shooter).
Langford shot slightly better than Little on much higher volume on a significantly less stacked team. Shooting is the one thing I'm willing to gamble on improving as long as the form isn't completely broken. Kemba shot .272 from 3 his freshmen year at UCONN.
Honestly wouldn't hate PJ Washington. He's got the physical tools (long as ****) and can already shoot a little from 3.
I'm generally of the opinion that nobody we draft is going to materially affect the W/L next season, so picking the more NBA ready player is generally a waste of time if you think their ceiling is severely limited.

Well, we know for a fact that your claim is not only hyperbolic but untrue because several posts up is actual in game evidence of him hitting a three. But we also know, as I explained earlier, he was not required to shoot jumpers because they had Perkins, Norvell, Kispert, Rui and Tillie to do that. Brandons responsibility was to rebound, block shots, defend and score in the low post. He excelled at every one of those responsibilities.
He made 4 threes in 37 games... at 26.7 percent. I can shoot better than that.
I’m not arguing whether he is a good college player, it’s about what he can do moving forward and he is going to be smaller than everyone guarding him... that’s a bad start. Add in he has no jump shot. Is he just going to dunk on everyone lol?

You’re just saying the same thing over and over. It’s already been pointed out to you about the sample size, but you don’t care. Confirm the bias you.

Buddy, Cam Reddish went to Duke. You have nothing to worry about. If we won the lottery I’d fully expect Coby White to be the pick.
This is such a lazy narrative that Jordan always finds ways to draft UNC players. Sure we took May and Felton in 05 and Jordan had nothing to do with that. Since then what UNC players have we drafted? Brandon Wright (who was instantly traded)? PJ Hairston (who was considered a great value pick where we got him)? That's all I can think of.
We have to have at least one or two Carolina players on the roster at all times. Marvin may be on the way out, so a replacement of equal or greater value must be obtained.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
I love the idea of Brandon Clarke. But we've taken guys with significant holes (Wright, Hendo, MKG, Bismack, Vonleh).
As uninspiring as it may be...when we take the best player available respective of potential and need it seems to work out better. Or at least not be a complete disaster (we'll see about Monk).
Imo, NAW is likely going to be the best player available at 12 without significany flaws. Little was also good player last year all things considered. That would be my #2 at 12.

I agree with driveandkick. In the last ten years we've invested as much in UK, IU, UConn, and Duke guys as we've invested in UNC guys.

Exactly. MJ has done plenty to warrant criticism over the past few seasons but the narrative that he's always going to give special treatment to UNC players is just false. UNC runs one of the most dominant college basketball programs in the country. They're churning out multiple NBA prospects every year, so yes sometimes we're going to end up with players from UNC. That does not mean MJ is looking for excuses to add UNC players. Like, if Cam Johnson falls to #36 that would be an amazing addition.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Honestly, for this draft, everything is a crapshoot after 2. Don't even trust that RJ will be definitively better than someone like Culver or White or even NAW. Heck, I would draft Ja over Zion, but that's just me.
So this year, I resolve not to be mad at Mitch and MJ for whomever they take, because they could be the best pick. I'm not going to fly off the handle this year. From 3-20, it's such a dice roll, that it's just about if we can develop them. TBH, look at the people I wanted in past drafts for the Hornets when their pick came up. I would have been fired quicker than the other Cho. I totally wanted Monk over Donovan. I wanted Vonleh. I totally hated the Miles pick. Heck I hated the SGA pick and was happy we traded him away, just not for Miles.
That being said, here's my top 20 list for the Hornets that I would want them to follow:
1. Ja
2. Zion
3. RJ
4. Culver
5. Garland
6. White
7. Hunter
8. Reddish
9. Sekou
10. Jaxson
11. NAW
12. Little
13. PJ
14. Clarke
15. Langford
16. Hachimura
17. Herro
18. Claxton
19. Goga
20. Bol

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
There have been tons of Duke players over the last several years that I would have killed to have on this team, but we haven't been in a position to draft them. You're crazy if you don't think that MJ and Mitch would have jumped at the chance to draft Ingram, Irving, Parker, Zion, etc. had they been on the board when the team was drafting in those respective drafts. There is no bias for UNC players, there's no evidence of that since MJ bought the team and took over.

The UNC bias does not seem to be borne out by the recent history & I don't remember the Lakers having a big UNC bias either while Mitch was there.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

To be honest if we took Little at our pick it wouldn’t be a reach. I mean was his year any worse than Reddish really? The way we showed some promise developing Bridges and Bacon I would be kind of excited to get a player with that kind of talent and hope we can help him reach his potential.
I don't want either one. I think Liver Pooty would agree, Cam Reddish is a streaky shooter but gets called for at least two charges a game for putting his head down and bulling his way to the basket through the defender four out of five times like he is playing football.

He would have taken Irving and Zion, the others are questionable.

I'm onboard for Goga- not sure he will be a star but he looks like a starting caliber big. can give some rim protection but looks like he can stretch floor a little.

That Goga shooting video isn't very impressive, made like 33% or something.
