A couple of winners and losers from combine
Winners
Sasser shot it well 6-7 wingspan
Leonard Miller- massive measurements 7'2.5 wingspan, huge hands, legit 6-10
Thompson twins measured well with 7 foot wingspans

Losers
Grady Dick- didn't measure great, athletic testing wasn't good
Emoni Bates- small wingspan, super light
Terq Smith- tiny tiny tiny player
Judah Mintz- tiny wingspan

Mixed Results
Anthony Black- good vert, but small wingspan for height
Jarace Walker- only measured 6-6.5 but had massive wingspan and good athletic
Cam Whitmore- decent height, good testing. 2nd smallest hands in class, wingspan not great at 6-8

Something insect related would make more sense as a good luck charm. Mead maybe? The Honeybee ( 8-) ) connection and since crushing disappointment is part of being a Hornets fan the buzz from the alcohol will make our suffering more tolerable.

After the utter failures of our two previous French player signings, I said we should NEVER seek out any player from that country again.

Well, tonight please join me in eating French fries, or a French roll, French pastry, quiche or anything famously France related. We need this #1 pick worse than perhaps any point in recent history.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I mentioned this one when i ended here few years ago. One famous traditional dessert is called "Charlotte". Since i am not that mean, i got you a link in english
https://liliebakery.fr/en/Raspberry-charlotte-cake/

parce que j'imagine que si je me mets à parler français je vais me prendre un ban :naaa:

Seriously though, even Victor would not magically turn this roster into a sure thing. In terms of assets, obviously yes. But i already said i would try to get a bunch of winning pieces for him (esp. if the development crew does not change since they would think smart to play hom at the center spot all the time).

PS : Speaking of french freak, we might have couple ones coming (Yimga being one, Soliman another, wing players this time unless they have a late growth spurt).

If we land Victor my nickname for him will either be the French Revolution or the Guillotine.

Charlotte was named for Queen Charlotte who was a close friend of Marie Antoinette. The Hornets nickname for the city comes from the Revolutionary War. It all fits, Victor Wembanyama will be a Charlotte Hornet.

Not that long ago. I don't get people who get their hopes up to the extent that they'll have extreme disappointment for something that is statistically unlikely to happen.

Maybe the most disappointing since Melo got injured again back in February?

Yeah, assuming we don't win I was way more disappointed about missing out on Anthony Davis. That felt like it was meant to be, the team needed it desperately with no star or anything close (though Kemba did become one).

In this case the odds are way more spread out, we have Melo, we're going to add Miles to last year's team and at worst the 8th pick. There is a clear path to improvement outside of the lotto balls.

But to answer the question of most disappointing since ____ : The rehiring of Steve Clifford.

Melo's injury was so late in a lost season it was a bummer but whatever.

I'd be fine with the lottery result as long as a) we don't slide down and b) Blazers, Jazz, Mavs, and Spurs don't win the lottery.

That's where I'm at for tonight. 88% chance we don't get Victor, will be bummed if we don't but it's also what I expect.

We're probably picking 6th. I just don't want the Magic, Pistons, Wizards, or God why have you forsaken me the Pelicans to win.
