I think Randle will be there at 6 and Minny wants to grab him. Plus the Celtics own future picks from the Nets, not to mention pick 17 in this draft.

The Celtics are definitely positioned to do another big 3 with Rondo + Love + Lance or Deng.

I might be willing to risk a little bit of overpay for Greivis Vasquez since he's capable of playing dual guard roles with his size. It'll basically be like paying him to play 2 positions --- approximately 15 minutes at point guard & 10 minutes at shooting guard. What I consider worth overpay for Vasquez would be around 2-3 years at $6 million annually

What you call an overapy I could live with, we have to overpay a bit for everybody and he's not coming here and putting up Big Al numbers but he would definitely be an upgrade to any backup we have had.

While Greivis Vasquez had a good offensive series against Brooklyn, the guy was an absolute sieve on defense, with BKN PGs driving by him at will.

Bigger issue is that he is a restricted free agent with a qualifying offer that makes him fairly reasonable for TOR to retain And apparently went on TOR radio after the season saying he would be "heartbroken" if he did not return to TOR.

"Toronto changed my life and recuperated my career because I was lost," he said, per Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca, in a memorable 18-minute interview that endeared himself to the city and its basketball fans.

Greivis Vasquez actually was one of the Raptors best defenders this season, and had the best defensive rating of any player on the roster. Vasquez especially defended the shooting guard position well where he played a little over one-third of his minutes, holding shooting guards to a PER of 8.5 and eFG% of .442. I know that the reputation that precedes Vasquez may make you think that he's a less than stellar defender from his previous stints with bad ball clubs --- Memphis omitted --- but he's quite the defender with his length & agility, and I would consider him above average

I was just going by what I saw in the BKN series. I'm glad to hear he's normally a better defender than that.

I suppose his fate in TOR may also be tied with whether they bring Lowrey back and how much they pay him. Vasquez's Q.O. is $3.2M, but you think it'll take about $4.5M to retain him?

Vasquez is a restricted free agent, and I think Toronto would be obliged to retain him for $4.5 million annually, but I doubt they'd budge at $6 million annually if Charlotte gave him such a offer sheet considering that they are likely to re-sign Kyle Lowry to a contract in excess of $10 million annually --- and likely one of the very few teams that logically would --- without mentioning that they are likely to extend Patrick Patterson or upgrade the position altogether for a even more expensive frontcourt player

Giving a guy 4.5m$/y is a way to kill your team ceiling, not even mention 6m$/y... are you guys crazy?

You can just have a back-up PG at 24 and roll with that guy and Ridnour for the vet min.

Overspending in role players is a bad way to build a team.

Don't disagree with most of what you said, but Ridnour was awful for us.

A top tier backup combo guard is worth more than you think. I don't think Vasquez is necessarily that guy, but the right player is certainly worth that price tag.

Yep, for the right team, for a team that is on the verge to contending and need a piece like that to get there.
Like the Clippers signing Crawford.

But for Charlotte? and Vasquez? no sir, not even close.

I won't spend more than 6m$/2y for Greivis.

Would you be okay with bringing Sessions back?

Sounds like Chandler Parsons is gonna be a RFA. Houston will decline his option.

If he and Dwight are such boys I figured he'd stay.

Houston has declined the fourth year option on Parsons. Now this is a guy that I want. Not sure what the hell Houston is doing, and Im sure they would match an offer since he is a RFA. But we need to look into this. Sign and trade, whatever.

Houston going all in for Melo I see. Morey did say something along the lines that they need 3 stars and Parsons certainly ain't no star despite being very good. I wouldn't mind Parsons at all because it's becoming more difficult by the day trying to determine what the hell we're going to do with the cap space in this weak free agency.

Parsons would be amazing on this team. No way Houston doesn't match though. Or at least do a sign and trade. They aren't going to let him walk for nothing.

They'd want a liquid asset for a Love package - probably pick 9 - and a player asset like Zeller. Then we'd have MKG and Parsons at the 3 and no MKG is not going to play SG.

Houston has a team option for Parsons next season though. Why wouldn't they exercise it at 964k? Im confused.
