I bet Holmes just became very available. I would trade Oubre for him immediately if they are game.

The Pelicans getting CJ is a good thing for us.

Good call on this being a signal about Holmes being on the move.

Does the pick NOP gave to POR have any bearing on the pick they owe us?

I think so. It is the same pick with different protections. If the NO pick lands in the top 5, they keep it. If the pick is in the rest of the lottery, it is Portland's and we get 2 2nd rounders from NO, one is this year, if the pick is above 14th, we get that and no seconds.
The trade actually probably helped us have a real shot at their 1st.

If it's top 4 the Pelicans keep it, if it's 5-14 the Blazers get it, and if it's 15-30 it goes to Charlotte. If the pick stays with the Pelicans or goes to the Blazers the Hornets get the Pelicans 2022 2nd and another future 2nd.

I really appreciate that New Orleans is going all-out to get us that 1st round pick.

Nance is a sneaky good inclusion as well, he's a good 3/4 defender to put beside ingram.

Quick Thoughts on teams moves so far.

Pacers- Like Haliburton, but not sure I will like him once he is making a Max contract after his rookie deal. They also took on a negative contract in Buddy and gave up an expiring and a solid role player on a cheap deal. Not getting any first for Sabonis is a risky move, but hey Indy loves trading for players over picks as I've stated here a lot of times.

Kings- Love the move for them. Would I rather have traded Fox or Mitchell? of course. But feels like they traded Haliburton at peak value here for 120cents on the dollar. I would rather do that then sell myself short on Fox at .60 cents on the dollar. I will hold final judgement to see if they can flip Barnes, Bagley and Holmes for better fitting pieces.

Pelicans- Easily got the best player in the deal. Who is only 30, why are people acting like McCollum is Westbrook bad. His contract isn't great but if he hit FA tomorrow I am sure he is getting close to 25 mil, so is 30 so much more he has no value? Naw and Sato? who cares about either. Hart is a solid piece, but there is a chance they find someone better at half the cost. Getting Nance on top of it was really good because I think he can play with Zion in the front court.

Blazers- pretty much hate what they are doing. Getting 1 first and Keon Johnson for Roco, CJ, Powell and Nance combined is hard to defend. They have cap space now, but they are about to give Simons a big payday and sounds like they want Nurkic to stay. After signing those guys they are going to have like 20 mil to splash around FA with. Not game changing if you ask me.

Clippers- They don't own pick this year, so might as well try to win. Stole Powell in my opinion, who even if his contract isn't awesome will be valuable on the court and as years come off more valuable in trades. Roco gives them yet another wing while PG and Kawhi are out.

Cavs- overpaid for LeVert, but if the plan is to not bring back Sexton I understand it. Gordon might have been better fit in short-term, but this Cavs team has to be thinking about this 2-3 year run with Garland and Mobley dirt cheap.

Pacers part 2- I like getting a first for Levert and that is a good second they got from Houston too. They dont own their own second this year so this should guarantee they get 3 guys still in top 35 picks or so. From rebuilding standpoint because they didn't get a first for Sabonis, I would be looking to still trade Turner or even Goga for draft capital.

Jazz- They got two rotation pieces for an injured Ingles and two poor second rounders. Not a fan of NAW or Juancho per say, but the cost was next to nothing. Especially on Naw who is only 23 still, maybe Clarkson can teach him some ways to be a bit more efficient on offense.

Miami- Under the radar move today to basically trade OKC to get their first round pick back this year for a pick in 2026. Now Miami is a buyer for a guy like Jerami Grant or Christian Wood because teams will value a first now over the future first. Smart move for Riley.

I watched this last night to scout Holmes (looked terrible, could just be mad). Sabonis is being underrated by many. Dude is a very versatile big.

So... Irving, Simmons, Durant, Drummond? +Curry? +Picks? Nets are looking solid.

Does Drummond make Clax any more gettable? Dangle a bit of nothing at the Nets?
