Rookie Breakdown:
After the Bobcats record level of futility, I felt a little disappointed in Kemba Walker not making more of an impact. Little did I know, his statistical rating of 20 would technically make him a "star" by 82games.com's chart. Is he a potential star? This is where the numbers can be misleading. His shooting percentage was poor even for a rookie (36.6%), not to mention his not exactly being a defensive stalwart. With the team setting a record for futility, it remains to be seen if Kemba can make it as a long term starter in the league.

Pick History:
If you had to choose a holy trinity of 9th picks, it would be Tracy McGrady, Dirk Nowitzki and Amare Stoudemire. Throw in Shawn Marion and Andre Iguodala, this pick has had a much brighter history than picks 6-8. There have still been some duds in the form of Eric Montross, Ed O'Bannon and Tom Hammonds.

Absolutely. Last year with no offseason, no contact with the coaches until the strike was settled, barely any training camp/preseason, condensed season, trying to learn how to be a true NBA point, it really came as no surprise he didn't look confident on the court most of the time.

Before we rush to judgement on him, let's see what he can do after a full summer of working out in the gym and getting into NBA shape, working with coaches, working on his game and working with teammates. He may only turn out to be a backup, but that's cool too because in order to be a great team, you need a good bench.

Yes, in a way you can say Kemba and Biz are still rookies heading into next season. Especially since we have a new coach and new system. But at least now there will be a full summer and training camp of putting in a lot of hard work learning and working with each other.

Last year was just abysmal for any young player let alone a rookie to play in. He had no contact with the team and the organization until November/December and a limited time in training camp and preseason. I'm thinking with a coach like Dunlap and a full off season to get acclimated to a system, it should help his progress to become a better player. I probably wait till after the season is over to past any judgement on him. I'm just hoping this past season didn't set him back. Who knows what kind of damages can be done on being part of a team with the worst winning percentage in NBA history.

I think if anything it will be something, no matter how successful he becomes, he will never forget. That type of season could really hinder certain prospect development but for Biz and Kemba it will instead provide extra motivation.

IMHO Kemba did not run the team very well last year.

It's hard to say if it was the fact that Silas had a crappy system for him, the fact that Kemba was a rookie and faced adjustment issues, or if it's indicative that he will have issues playing PG in the NBA due to his own limitations. Basically neither we nor the team really knows at this point. The team would have to be concerned ... but they are also going to give him time & new coaching to prove that it wasn't just him.

I can undestand the concern.

I think it's been said here before; you acquire assets and worry about depth charts later. If Cho really liked Dragic, Kemba shouldn't prevent that acquisition from happening.

Phoenix just drafted a PG but they still offered Dragic a deal. Mid/late lotto picks are expected to be rotational players. Being able to start is a bonus and should not be the expected outcome.

I'd say more like 65-70% sold for me. I was expecting a lot worse, honestly, but he showed some glimpses of being able to set up his teammates. If his teammates weren't awful that % would probably go up.
