Re: The 2013 Trade Thread II
I'd much, much, much rather sign Pekovic than trade for Cousins.
1. Pekovic is cheaper.
2. Pekovic is not a head case/cancer/horrible team mate.
3. Pekovic is just as productive as Cousins - if not more.

I'd much rather have Mullens than give every asset we have to trade for Cousins.

Just my opinion, but I'd much, much, much rather Cousins because he's a better talent all-around. Yes, Cousins is mentally challenged & hasn't helped the Kings win much, but neither has Pekovic as far as the latter despite having a HOF coach in Adelman

If the cost is the same other than salary I agree. If we have to trade a lot of assets to get him the cost goes way up.

I believe Cousins could be had for the Detroit & Portland picks combined in a package with one of Hendo or Biyombo once the Kings come to the realization that they desperately need to trade Cousins before they inevitably lose him during the 2014 offseason

That is a lot to give up to then spend max money on a guy who may or may not flip out at the first sign of trouble.

It's risky, but I think it's worth the risk. Cousins could become the top big man in the league based on talent alone in another 3 years. He's currently only 22 years old. I remember when I was that age I was arrogant, hardheaded, and ready to put hands on anybody that disrespected me. These days I am a lot more mature & understanding

You guys realize that every time he's had a "disagreement" with the Kings organization (and it's only been twice), he's been suspended for a game or two and then goes on a tear and averages 20/10 for the rest of the season, right?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. That changes everything. If being a massive douche and receiving a team imposed suspension (meaning the team thinks they are better without you) is all it takes to motivate him to actually perform then we should trade our entire roster, future picks and max contract him.
Can we double max?
We should do that.

Again I am not saying I would not do it but I would not give up to much for him. Hendo and one of the picks plus Taylor or Sessions or something works for me. I would not mortgage our future on a guy who may explode and destroy everything we are trying to build.

Re: The 2013 Trade Thread II
To me no matter how talented a player is, it is all about perceived value.
This can be created from stats, potential, attitude, work ethic, contract, and team fit.
I think everyone would take Cousins on our team, but the costs are different. To me he is not worth what he is going to cost in terms of assets. Let alone the amount of risk he brings with no guarantee of re-signing and then if he does resign at what cost is it going to take to retain him..
I think when it all comes down to it, it will take three good assets, nearly a max contract, and about a 30-40 chance he would be willing to sign in Charlotte long-term. Yes we can all argue about exactly what assets it costs, but to me its not worth it.
I would rather take my chances of just signing him in free agency. If it is going to take a Max to retain after a trade, then I think it makes more sense to offer a Max contract in free agency, this way you do not lose any assets.
This is not taking into account the negativity, lack of success in terms of wins, and how he portrays as the face of the franchise.

Some draft scuttle: Rockets have been offered chance to shed contract of PF Thomas Robinson for first-round pick in next Thursday's draft

I know it was only his rookie season but he reminds me so much of Tyrus Thomas I'm not sure we'd ever need him or find use for him here

I wonder what pick it is. Could be very late and also if they are looking to fully cut salary on him they may be more interested in a high second or a first in another year.

Houston doesn't want draft picks this year they want cap space and or future picks. This may not be dead yet.

Re: The 2013 Trade Thread II
Poor Robinson though. Being traded twice before your sophomore year doesn't do wonders for your confidence.

Are the Cats looking to keep the 4 or package it to bring in a vet to be more competitive? With the Ilyasova for the #3 rumor, I'm wondering what kind of pick Pau could get us? Would you take Pau for the 4, Gordon, Biyombo, Copeland? Kemba/Henderson/MKG/Pau/Sessions/Mullins & possibly a big FA.. That's definitely a playoff team in the east.

That isnt a good fit at all for our rebuild efforts. We have one more year of development remaining. Theres not much chance Biyombo gets put in that package also.
Plus where did Copeland come from?

It is still a value and possibly piece for sign and trades. By sign and trade they sve more cap space for other signings (the other max. contract FA). They just need a cap space to sign a max FA outright to be a threat to those teams.

Re: The 2013 Trade Thread II
it makes sense that we'd offer the Portland pick. It's roughly the same value and its the future pick that doesn't count against their current salary.doc.end wrote:countryboi wrote:Liver_Pooty wrote:Some draft scuttle: Rockets have been offered chance to shed contract of PF Thomas Robinson for first-round pick in next Thursday's draft
