I was pretty agnostic on a Lamb trade. Didn't actively want him traded, but thought his salary + a pick could net nice value so wasn't opposed depending on return.

Hoping he has a major breakout year.

He's top 5 best scoring backup SGs in the league based on last season alone. I don't understand much of the angst except that he need to improve his 3pt shooting percentages but he's actually a efficient scorer everywhere else.

I've always been a pretty big Lamb fan. I really hope he can step his game up to a new level and be a big contributor. At least to the point where Clifford has some respect/faith in him...

That is great to hear. The role is there for him to run that second unit this season.

I'd definitely like to see Lamb become a bigger and more consistent contributor, but I'm just hoping this doesn't take away minutes from Monk. As long as Monk is getting 20 mins a game I'm happy. But if we can get good contribution from Lamb, we are gonna have a dangerous bench. Kaminsky/Marv (whichever one is coming off the bench) and Zeller are basically sure things in terms of having positive impact. If Lamb can be more consistent, we'd have a very solid rotation to work with. Even though Monk may not be an impact player his first year, he's still almost definitely gonna be a weapon from beyond the arc which should be enough to make him a valuable piece on it's own

I think a bench unit of mcw, monk, lamb, Frank, Howard would be interesting. Monk, lamb can both go iso. Frank is a playmaker/shooter. Howard attacks glass
Mcw/Howard gives us enough defense to overcome the relative weakness on the wings

He just needs to improve either his defense or outside shooting and he'll be a really good 7th man. Improving both would be ideal and might make him legit starting material, but either one will do. If he starts hitting 3s he'll just be a really good offensive player (already is very solid) and worth putting up with some defensive issues. If he becomes a solid defender then it will be much easier to fit him in lineups that minimize the negative impact of his suspect 3 point shot and take advantage of his shot creation ability.

This is a make it or break it year for Lamb. He's 2 years out from having to sign probably the biggest contract of his career. A setback this season would hurt his future value considerably. I expect Clifford to give him big minutes in the beginning of the year to make up for a lot of Marco's minutes.

Big opportunity for Lamb.

Wondering if Batum may have been throwing some shade at Lamb with the comment about OKC. Basically alluding to Lamb's inexperience and the spot is Batums as soon as he comes back. Depending on Lamb's ability with working with Kemba will decide what role Batum will even have when he comes back.

"The Frenchman added, “He’s way more mature. He didn’t really play with Oklahoma City [where he was from 2012-15], so technically, it was the beginning of his career with us two years ago. He’s going to be a huge key and now that I’m out for a couple of months, he’s going to [need] to be even bigger for us. We’re going to need him to step up his game even more now. He’s going to do it for sure.""

There is a zero prevent chance that Lamb starts when Batum is healthy.

Then, we should trade him for somebody. What's the point of having Batum, Lamb, and Monk all at the 2?

Lamb plays SF mostly, Batum plays some SF as well, and if both Stone and MCW suck, one of those three is going to have to play PG on that second unit.

I mean even if Lamb lights the world on fire I don't think he would stay as a starter.

Reminds me of when Batum was hobbled in the playoffs in 2016 and we started him. It pretty much doesn't matter what happens, when he's healthy he's going to be the starter.

We desperately need a plus passer and facilitator in the starting lineup.

If Lamb truly excels and looks ok defensively I could see him threatening mkgs spot. Especially if he hasn't developed at all

We've seen Lamb as a starter before. It wasn't so great. As a 3rd or 4th option he didn't do nearly as well as he did as a 1st or 2nd option with the reserves.

I do hope that things go differently this time.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Look at it this way. Between Jeremy Lamb and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, which one would you rather have shooting the ball?
