Can you guys imagine how bad the East is going to be if Kawhi doesn't play?

I wonder if we could have traded Dwight for Dennis Schroder? He makes less per year than Mozgov and Bismack (although the contract is a year longer) and he's a much better player than Parker. We then could have used the MLE on someone else like Luc Mbah a Moute in case we trade MKG or Marvin. Atlanta would just buyout Dwight as they would Carmelo.

nah I'm happier with what we did. Schroeder is on a three year deal and I don't think he'd fit too well here either nor would he enjoy being a backup. We'll probably have to move someone next summer anyway and Schroeder is already tough to move. At least Biz expires in 2020

they are a genuine chance to make the Finals this year if he plays. He would be mad not to play out the season really.

When Parker signed here, Spurs looked like a rebuild team. With DeRozan joining Aldridge they suddenly look like a win-now team long term. They will have cap to add a third star, right?

I mean it was thought they would unload Kawhi for prospects and picks. They went in a totally different direction with DeRozan. It's a total win-now move. They shipped out Kawhi + Green while letting Parker and Anderson walk. Yet they're still positioned to compete.

Kawhi is going to play, he can not afford to miss damn near 2 full season and still expect the max from someone. this season is an audition for the Lakers.

The Spurs have the talent to compete. They basically swapped Danny Green for DeRozan and Poeltl from last year's 47 win team. But the pieces do not fit at all. I would trade Rudy Gay for just about anything just to get him out of there, but a defensive forward is definitely needed there.

Gay for MKG.

Ichiro then throws a party that never ends.

i didn't say compete for a title. Nobody is touching GS right now. like I said, they added a star to the 47 wins they got essentially without Kawhi. If they make moves for fit I think they can be a 55 win team. It's still a Popovich led team. I wouldn't bet against the Dallas Mavericks right now if Popovich was their head coach.

Beasley to the Lakers now may make that team the most entertaining to watch this season.

it's comical honestly. Beasley, Lance, JaVale McGee, KCP... Didn't LeBron say he wanted to play with a bunch of "cerebral players" or something? This unit is obviously just a one year stop gap till they have more free agents to target but Magic couldn't find a better combination of players?

He should "retire" to play minor league baseball for a year so the Lakers can tank and can come back fresh next season with a top 3 pick + Kawhi + whoever to reload. I'm not completely joking (except about the baseball part).

didn't Magic make a meal of it last time he was GM of Lakers?

I'm sure he's done this all poorly before

Is this the worst LeBron team since the early Cleveland days? Lakers could have easily built a LeBron-Kawhi-PG team through trades... or even a LeBron-Kawhi-PG-Cousins team if they wanted to go that route

Lakers acting all smug and sht not trading any assets thinking everyone will just come to them. It was pretty dope that PG stayed in OKC and I hope Kawhi stays in Toronto

it's better than the 2018 Cavs.

not by much, but I think it is better. Unfortunately that team is going to be obliterated by Golden State or Houston in the 2nd round out west instead of barely scraping past Indiana and an injured Boston team in the east.
