I'm pumped to watch Miller play with LaMelo. I don't expect to see Miller playing with the starters when the season starts, but preseason is a good time to experiment.

Roll with a LaMelo, Miller, Hayward, PJ, and Mark lineup and see how they do.

Ya know, I never even put two and two together and realized that both Panthers and Hornets picked Alabama guys with their top picks.

And both FOs are showering them with plaudits and fluff. Hopefully he doesn't follow the same path Bryce has thus far

The Panthers have been a dumpster fire under Tepper, so not sure how much blame should be placed on Young. I'm just hoping that Tepper isn't the new Dan Snyder.

The funniest part is he’s actually done a decent job in the sense of being aggressive, spending money to back the team, etc. Like he clearly cares and wants to make moves and win. However he’s impatient and his meddling has led to failure every time. It feels like each move he’s made has gotten progressively worse and worse and backfired to comical degree at this point, he keeps digging us into a deeper, darker hole. We hired the wrong coach, traded for 3 of the wrong QBs, hired the wrong GM, then hired a new, wrong coach again, and let the wrong GM trade up for a new, wrong QB. It’s astonishing how every single hire he’s made has crashed and burned this badly.

My fear is this is all part of a long game to move the team.

Media day seemed super positive, of course why wouldn't it be.

I only really took a few things at face value.
1 being Clifford saying Miller will play right away, and praising his IQ. Clifford is always big on guys knowing where they need to be and being "organized" seems like Miller should be a guy that gets it day 1.

Hope Miller works out well with Charlotte long term. :D

Blazer fans after the Dame Saga, are looking forward to seeing Scoot Henderson. He appears to be as advertised for Time Lord has been talking about how fast he is, about how he can get to the rack whenever he wants.

Don't know if that is what Charlotte needs with Melo but in any event best wishes from this Blazers fan. He is what Portland needed.

Scoot seems perfect for Portland and I was Team Scoot come draft time, but Miller is definitely exciting me.

Scoots going to put up stats right off. Did the same thing with Ignite and it didn't equate to winning. We won't know anything for 3 to 4 years over what the correct pick was.

I thought his athleticism was "meh"

I knew Miller competed on defense at Bama last year, but he really seems to take pride in it.

I hope he ends up starting sooner rather than later.

Watching Brandon Miller in the pre-season, especially the two games he's started and played with the main guys in... he plays a winning brand of basketball. He just makes smart plays, especially with the ball in his hands. I was worried we'd be lacking in the playmaking department outside of LaMelo but Miller has me at ease because he makes the right pass at the right time plus he can score it himself from anywhere.

I'm not sure it matters much if he starts or not right now, but it's going to be hard not to start him or play him significant minutes with what he seems to bring to the table already. I can see why they liked him.

There is actually a lot of Hayward in his game. Moves well without the ball, passes to the open man, can shoot inside and (hopefully soon) outside. If he can be an unbroken down version of the young prime Hayward+ that is a good outcome. Hopefully he is even better.

Utah Haywards best season-

47.1% 2.0-5.1 (3's) 39.8% (from 3) 84.4% FT 5.4 (RB) 3.5(A) 1.0 (ST) 1.9 (TO) 21.9 (PTS)

I think Miller can better that in a couple of years.

He really strikes me as one of those dudes that is a complimentary player for his first few years, and then becomes a star.

For whatever reason, small forwards of his archetype (Hayward, PG 13, Leonard, Ingram, etc) have slow starts in the league but end up getting it together.

Really only Tatum started off as a stud, and it helped his case that he plays for a media darling.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

I'm predicting he averages 13/5.5/3 for the year on 42/34/81 shooting splits

Return to Charlotte Hornets
