I'm a little leary too, but if healthy, he's a leathal scorer, which this team really needs.

Jordan Hill (UFA) need to be signed via free agency this offseason if possible. Cho should seriously look into acquiring him for frontcourt depth. I initially wanted Charlotte to go after Ed Davis, but as a RFA that could get a little dicey and wind up being a waste of attention considering that he's the only young piece geared towards the future that the Grizzlies really have. Hill would be a more than solid acquisition that could play PF or C and deliver on production at the same time

he's not really as good as advertised. He's a taller, less athletic Gerald Henderson with better range and an even less consistent jumper who is worse defensively. Every year, people say he's "just in a shooting slump".

He hasn't improved a bit since his second season in the league and could conceivably be far worse once he returns from a Derrick Rose-length ACL recovery period. His career numbers are 14.5/4.7/1.9 on 41.8%/36.9%/82.2% and he's not very good defensively even when he's healthy. A nasty ACL injury later, it's likely that he's a 13/4 player shooting 40% making $10M+ per year. I don't think I'm taking that for free.

I like Hill. He would be a good bargain too for a player that can put up numbers a little. He might eat into Biz minutes but it's better than Zeller doing it. He's definitely a player that we should go after.

Does anyone see Luol Deng getting the same treatment as Al Jefferson got last FA? I mean Deng's career says he is a better player than we saw with the Cavaliers last year. When looking at that situation, the first thing that should be considered is he was in Cleveland. He wasn't in the ideal situation. I think he would be a great fit here, however, my only concern is he would eat into MKGs minutes.

I can see him here on a 2-3 year deal definitely because MKG is not ready for full time minutes with a broken shot on a playoff team looking to advance. Deng is a great defender and offers far more in the scoring department. He's the same age as Al Jefferson as well.

I think Cho will have to gauge trade interest in MKG on draft night before signing Deng to anything more than 2 years.

You never know though, Charlotte may want to play with a deep roster with many interchangeable parts like the Spurs. So even with Deng, MKG would see steady minutes and in certain situations play more especially when resting Deng. I'd like to see Big Al get more rest too. That's why I think Monroe is a possibility.

Deng's career has been on a steady decline for a couple years. He's completely forgot how to shoot- he's been Gerald Henderson-like from three, and worse from everywhere else and he hasn't had the defense we saw in years past. Unless we're signing him to a 2 year, 15M contract or thereabouts, I really don't want him.

I agree. I love Deng to death, but he isn't for us.

I know this is probably completely irrational but I don't want Deng b/c he almost died from spinal meningitis or whatever it was. I mean, he literally was knocking on death's door a little while ago.

I just don't want him because he's gonna be a massively overpaid player who is coming off the worst year of his career and in a clear decline.

We really don't really have no need for Luol Deng on this team. I'd rather Ariza and I'm not that fond of that either.

I can't fathom how anybody would legitimately want Luol Deng on this team for the reported amount that he's demanding after watching how the Bulls were able to sustain (and progress) after trading him away for essentially nothing in return & the Cavaliers continue to struggle despite his presence

Yep, same thing goes for the Rudy Gay supporters. Though if I had to choose between the two I'd go with Deng.

I don't remember Aldridge nearly dying, just a myriad of back problems. And I would turn him down, he'd be a bad fit next to Al.

I'd bring back DeSagana Diop before I signed Rudy Gay.

whaaaattt that would be the best front court in the league by a mile. LMA isn't a bad defender by any measure, just not great.

I've talked a bunch about how Charlotte will spend big to insure a successful rebranding of the Hornets and how important it is for the franchise to mend the relationship with the city, build it and strengthen it. ESPN has a nice interview of Tom Sorenson of the Charlotte Observer. The questions nearly all flow from a marketing angle and Sorenson suggest MJ and company are not going to screw up this opportunity. It's kind of like a first impression.

I maintain they will spend.

Here's some quotes from Jordan:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Michael Jordan anticipates the Charlotte Hornets will make another big splash this offseason.

Jordan said Monday that with three draft picks and more than $13 million to spend in free agency the Hornets are in position to make a "big difference" in upgrading their roster.

"I think we made a difference last year with Big Al [Jefferson] and some of the acquisitions, and I don't anticipate this year being any different," Jordan said.

Jordan hopes that Jefferson's success will persuade other big-name free agents to come to Charlotte.

"I always thought Charlotte was a great destination," Jordan said. "Big Al has proven that you can come here and make a big difference. Hopefully we can look at that and attract some other superstars."

"This year we have a lot of flexibility, and I've been speaking to that over the last three or four years. Flexibility is very important, and we are going to use every resource to try to better the team," Jordan said.

The Hornets owner wouldn't say specifically what position the team might look to upgrade this offseason, instead saying he wants to find players who truly want to play in Charlotte.

Another key, Jordan said, is developing a core of young players...

"We have a bunch of young talent that we still are trying to nourish into some better basketball players," Jordan said. "So summer is when we have to make our big leap."

I'm curious if Jordan tries to pitch guys like Cam Newton to free agents. Cam has gotten plenty of coverage and interest league wide even though playing for a relatively small market team.
