6. Miles Bridges, SF/PF, Hornets (restricted): The Hornets couldn’t reach a deal with Miles Bridges before the season, and that could end up being an expensive mistake, as his breakout year is likely to lead to a bidding war. Is it crazy that he could get a max deal? Perhaps not — he’s 23 years old and averaging 21.6 points per game.
He’s also the former college teammate of Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr., and wouldn’t you know it: the Grizzlies have cap room and a glaring need for a big wing who can shoot. Memphis doesn’t quite have max space, but its pathways to getting there are fairly simple. Charlotte, of course, can match any offer for Bridges, so ultimately the Hornets still have control here. As with Ayton above, Bridges is limited to four years, $128 million on an offer sheet and five years, $173 million on a deal with the Hornets.

From the Athletic on next summer's top free agents. Miles is the 2nd highest ranked RFA, behind only Ayton.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I love Miles, LOVE him. When we drafted him it was the 1st time I had been excited about a 1st round selection of ours in years and years.
That said, I don't feel great about paying him $30-$40mil a year over 3-5 years.
That terrifies me.
He's played really, really well for 25 games to start this season. Let's see if it's sustainable over the next 57 games.

Assuming he keeps it up I think the best course of action is to try to get him slightly under the max and failing that match a 4 year offer sheet. I don't see him as a true max max player, he's fringe max if he keeps this play up.

Where are all the posters who insisted we screwed up by taking Miles and not Porter Jr (not Kevin, the other one - the one with the debilitating back injury that might have ended his career)?

Gone into health and safety protocols, along with PJ Washington, according to Shams Charania.

Keeping my eye out for the baseline, slow mo version of this move.
This’ll have to do for now.

Wasn't too long ago, several posters on here wanted to trade Bridges and 3(LaMelo) for 1 (Wiseman)... Gross

I thought it was too funny and that was before knowing who would fall and how he would perform as a rookie.
It has been written...

His ability to finish with either hand is incredible. Most ambidextrous player in league?

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
Ive been tempted to post a hot take about how I might not be super comfortable with Miles on a max contract for a team like us but I think I'll save it for the off-season and let it play out

Re: OG Hornet: The Miles Bridges Thread
I mean, I wouldn't let him just walk away even if a team maxes him, that would be silly. I wouldn't love the contract, and there's a chance it goes sideways, but we'd kind of have to do it. Miles bet on himself and it is about to pay off in a huge way for him.
If the season ended today, Miles has earned himself a John Collins level contract- 5/120. Not quite a max, around 5-6M below it, but a hefty, well-deserved payday.

Probably. Eric and Dell let us know at least 5 times a game.

Miles might bet slightly overpaid, but LaMelo will still be severely underpaid for 2 of those years. Hell even LaMelo on the rookie max might not be an overpay if he continues to improve. Pay Bridges and figure the rest out later.
