BrotherDave wrote:To me, it's very simple. We're not trying to win now, next year, or maybe even year after next. We have the rare privilege of having tons of time to develop and stockpile assets. All we have to do is not be better than last year and most fans are happy. Guys like Drummond do not come around very often at all. Even if Drummond does not reach his potential, his floor is likely to be a Robinson and in a year or two he'll be just as good at least, still have size and amazing athleticism and still be much more valuable as trade bait than a Robinson or MKG or Beal etc.

We're getting a coach with a focus on developing talent, Cho said as much. So if we get a guy like Sloan, he'll teach physical marvel how to play basketball and the league will chit themselves b/c we'll continue to add good rookies next year and the year after, and FA.

If we go with Robinson, I'm fine but I feel like we should go for it with gusto. Picking Robinson, Beal, MKG, etc or trading down for someone like Barnes and Sullinger just smacks of the same "let's play it safe" strategy we have always done which has led us to treadmill glory. We can get guys like that anytime in future drafts, there won't be another Drummond in the near future.

this is what i am talking about....i wouldnt be mad at this at all

Would've rather had 4th. Lamb is my guy, but I don't think they can justify taking him 2nd.

Horrible form on his shot, but he works his ass off.

I can't find anything concrete on this year but Day 5 of our workouts was Jun 7 last year so I am guessing Monday.

Drummond's floor is much lower than that, it's more like out of the league after his rookie contract

I dont understand everybody being soooo upset, i too wanted Davis but the way the lottery is setup even though the "odds" were in our favor they weren't because the worst team rarely gets the #1 pick so I was expecting this and it actually worked out better than i thought by us getting #2...Davis is the best player in this draft....so says the "experts" and on paper but he isnt gonna come in and make an immediate impact...atleast on this team which has no real playmakers or guys that can create their own shots or shots for others.....

That being said I like Beal but dont think he is the fit here w/ us having Hendo as probably our best player and just drafted an undersized combo guard in Kemba...... Cant believe im gonna say this being a hardcore Tarheel hater but for me the guy i now think is the best fit is Harrison Barnes, think he will be a better pro than MKG, he has good size, can score and on a pro level will probably be a better scorer as he isnt asked to play within a structured team oriented system like UNC and he would have a immediate chance to make an impact plus he becomes Maggette's future replacement if he doesnt beat him out this year

Cho said in the interview on ESPN before the lottery that we want a coach that can develop young players like Biz and Mullens so I think they see Mullens in their future lets give him a chance to develop, we dont have to pick a big, right now we dont even know if Biz is a PF or C, lets sign a cheap vet to back them up, after all the plan is not to make the playoffs this year but build..... I think Barnes fits what we really need at this point...... Damn it hurts to say that!!!

And no i dont know if he is "worthy" of the #2 pick based on the mock lotterys but i think he has the best chance to be a big time scorer out of whats left and thats something we need
