I agree. I think he's gone in the offseason. I think we trade him.

Assume you mean Taylor, and I highly doubt that. For starters, his contract is dirt cheap, so highly unlikely to find value at that salary, and also no one is going to roll the dice on his recovery. MAYBE we get a second or late first round pick for him, but don't see better than that and not sure I'd prefer that.

JT was rocking an othwerworldly PER of 6.

I doubt we could get anything for him if he was healthy.

If CDR comes back on a 2-3 year deal, I'll happily take a late 1st for Taylor. Taylor's the kind of player we're going to regret trading in 3-4 years but we really have no use for him at all. We are looking to upgrade our starting 2-guard spot, and for the foreseeable future, Taylor isn't gaining any ground on Henderson and CDR in the rotation.

if we can get a late first for Taylor (2nd round pick 2 years ago) we would be committing highway robbery, i doubt with his ACL and horrid efficiency we can even get some half-ass D-League prospect creeping on some teams roster like that dude from the Nets that Cody wants to murder

CDR might be my favorite player on the team right now. how could you not root for that hair+goggle combo to go with great shooting, defense and overall smart play that you nabbed out of the damn d-league. I'd easily keep him over Taylor and his wildly inconsistent jumpshot and wildly inconsistent confidence. CDR seems to me like a guy thats not gonna wilt under the postseason lights. Though I guess he did in the NCAA championship

Eh, CDR choked at the FT line but he was a freaking star in that NCAA tourney all the way up until those final 3 minutes of the championship game. Rose might've been the top commodity as far as NBA prospects go on that Memphis team but CDR was the leader and led that team in scoring.

CDRs great spring reminds me of walter herrmann.

side note - how great of a fit would spring 2007 walter herrmann be for this team? corner 3s, slashing, didnt need ball in hands, great moving w/out ball, very good and ball denial defense.

nobody moves a 1st rounder before the trade deadline, Bobcats fans believe they could receive one for Jeff Taylor. smh...

Oh, I don't think we can, but if we could, we should take it in a heartbeat.

I wasn't thinking a current year first rounder, but if JT comes back and shows he can shoot and D up then I bet we could get a late first next season. I mean people were all about how he was a great steal in the 2nd round and great value for us.

...

Ok, I'll be honest, I pretty much have already forgotten what his game is like and what value he has. Total after thought when I think about our roster.

we couldn't get a 1st round pick for Gerald when he was averaging 20ppg for a while, no way in the world we get one for Jeff

we would be insanely stupid to get rid of JT in the offseason.

So why get rid of him if his value obviously isn't high and you aren't getting anything significant back in return? He showed glimpses of good shooting and defensive instincts during his rookie season, this year was more or less bad (mostly because of his shooting and indecisive shot selection). Let the guy prove himself, he's on a second round rookie contract - that's cheap labour.

I am worried if this isn't the end of his career though. That's such a horrible injury to go through.

I'm not saying we SHOULD get rid of him, but I wouldn't automatically assume it would be stupid to do so. His spot is a lot safer if we only have 1 draft spot this offseason since we will probably need to use it on a PG. best case scenario for him is 3rd stringing behind GH/Neal and MKG/hopefully re-signed CDR. If we draft a rookie wing JT obviously has no place on the roster. Either way it would definitely not be "stupid" to let go of a guy thats been severely outplayed by a D-League signing at the exact role we wanted him to be

we might as well release him, he was one of the worst players in the NBA this season tore his ACL and his ceiling is a 3&D player he has literally zero value and since we have 2 draft picks (POR and 2nd round) we can get his replacement easily if we haven't already found it (CDR)
