I have a hard time getting excited about Smart. If we pick him I'll do a golf clap and just have to respect the hordes of scouts and teams that have valued him, but he's a terrible outside shooter and a poor FT shooter (so probs not going to get a lot better from outside) and doesn't seem like a top tier PG. I've watched enough college basketball highlights to know he plays hard and I like that, but he's got poor size and isn't an elite athlete. I like the defensive stats though.
I'm meh on him, but I guess it'd be fun to get a guy that many consider a top 5 pick at 9 so I'll show some mild enthusiasm if we get him.

Kemba, MKG, and Smart together would be so intense. The competitiveness there could really fuel a team. If Smart could knock down threes he would be incredible on the Hornets.

my guess is around 7:30, ESPN starting early so they can get 30 mins of pre-draft coverage

His shooting is a definite concern. He won't fix our shooting need immediately, but I think he'll be a very good player, and I think he can improve his outside shot. If we draft him, I hope he can play 2 guard at a high level as well. I'd be pretty happy with pretty much anyone linked to us right now though.

Re: Official NBA Draft Thread - Merry Christmas!!!
Ok, first of all, let me just say that I am ashamed of myself because I haven't been paying almost any attention to the draft prospects like I did in years past.
We needed them. I mean we always need to improve, but back then, WE NEEDED THEM, so it seemed like a much bigger deal.
However this year seems different. I feel that how well we draft this year isn't that important considering our stance. (Once Al got healthy) We were rolling through teams last year well above .500 with just the players we have now. We've come a long way guys...
That being said, let's hope the players we do land turn out to be helpful to our team.
TL;DR
Other than the obvious lottery picks, the names I've heard mostly good things about:
-Marcus Smart
-Doug McDermott
-Rodney Hood
-Julius Randle
-Aaron Gordon
-Kyle Anderson
All I can say is I hope whoever we pick is tall for their position. There seems to be a correlation between that and most great players from what I've seen.
