Its time to hand the franchise over to Mcw. He will save us, he is our only hope.

Re: Woj: CHA making Kemba available in trade talks
I’m fine keeping Dwight, he isn’t that bad of a contract because next year he will be expiring. MkG isn’t great but he is young and his deal is manageable and most likely doesn’t have a ton of value league wide.
Trading batum with Kemba makes sense and then maybe trading Marv for a late first and a young player with upside to a contender makes sense as a stand alone trade.

Re: Woj: CHA making Kemba available in trade talks
Woah just got off work and saw all of this... this is nuts! I am genuinely shocked that they're considering blowing it up. Maybe it's for the best, it's just surprising since we did the whole tank and rebuild thing not that long ago without much success. I assumed MJ would rather have a low-level playoff team than go through that again. Also thought we were just an upgrade at backup PG away from being a solid playoff team.
Anyway, I've mentioned it before, but I'm not down for trading Kemba unless it's for a Godfather package. I really wanted him to be in Charlotte through his next contract. At least with Gerald Wallace, you knew he wasn't going to age well and that his career was about to go downhill fast. Kemba is still going to be really awesome for a while. Besides, this doesn't seem like a good market for teams looking to sell, especially at PG. I think we've ran the gamut of Kemba trade ideas already, unless there's some crazy multi-team trade. IMO, it feels like Kemba is destined to be a Knick.

Here you go, Insider trades distilled:CuseMayne wrote:Side note: Does anyone have ESPN insider? I'm curious to see the "Six Kemba Walker trades that work for both sides" article to get a better grasp for what we could potentially get out of Kemba.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Hornets get: Guard Isaiah Thomas, center Channing Frye, Brooklyn 2018 first-round pick
Cavaliers get: Guard Kemba Walker, center Johnny O'Bryant
From Charlotte's perspective, the Brooklyn pick is the best they're likely to get offered for Walker, and the Hornets might also be able to flip Thomas for another expiring contract before the deadline and get additional picks. However, making this move would prevent them from gaining additional cap relief.
Detroit Pistons
Hornets get: Guard Reggie Jackson, forwards Henry Ellenson, Stanley Johnson and Anthony Tolliver, draft picks
Pistons get: Guard Kemba Walker and forward Marvin Williams
The challenge for the Pistons is getting Charlotte to sign off on a deal that offers little cap relief (Tolliver's $3.3 million contract is the only expiring one the Hornets would get) and no exciting young players or picks. Detroit would have to hope Charlotte still believes in Johnson's potential or offer multiple first-round picks to make this deal attractive.
Indiana Pacers
Hornets get: Guard Darren Collison, forward Bojan Bogdanovic, center Al Jefferson, 2018 first-round pick**
Pacers get: Guard Kemba Walker and center Dwight Howard
One interesting alternative: Indiana could take on the remaining three-plus years on Nicolas Batum's contract. Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard acquired Batum in Portland (in a draft-night trade), and he would fill a need at small forward. Swapping Howard out of this deal for Batum would allow the Hornets to create far more long-term savings.
Hornets get: Guards Ron Baker, Jarrett Jack and Frank Ntilikina
Knicks get: Guard Kemba Walker
Because they're in need of a point guard, and because Walker is from New York, the Knicks will inevitably be mentioned as a destination. Alas, they can't offer Charlotte much in the way of cap relief. So the Knicks are probably reliant on the Hornets viewing Ntilikina as a better prospect than they could get elsewhere.
Phoenix Suns
Hornets get: Guard Tyler Ulis, forwards Dragan Bender and Jared Dudley, centers Greg Monroe and Alan Williams
Suns get: Guards Michael Carter-Williams, Julyan Stone and Kemba Walker, centers Dwight Howard and Johnny O'Bryant
Like Indiana, Phoenix could offer Charlotte major cap relief in the form of Monroe's $17.9 million expiring contract and a non-guarantee on Williams' 2018-19 salary. As compared to the Pacers, the Suns have more young talent to sweeten an offer. I've included 2016 No. 4 overall pick Dragan Bender here, but fellow 2016 lottery pick Marquese Chriss would fit too, or Phoenix could offer Miami's 2018 first-round pick.
Hornets get: Guards Rodney Hood and Ricky Rubio, forward Derrick Favors, 2018 first-round pick
Jazz get: Guard Kemba Walker, forwards Jeremy Lamb and Marvin Williams
Utah could offer an intriguing combination of cap flexibility and talent to Charlotte. The Jazz's short-term contracts come attached to quality players; Favors would surely have some value to a third team as a rental in the final season of his deal, while Rodney Hood could be worth re-signing as a restricted free agent.
**Trading Kemba while bringing Al Jeff back would make my spleen explode
Frankly, trading Kemba to keep Batum makes me want to root for another team

Ha I was wondering today if we might try to pry off Oladipo and Al Jefferson for Kemba and Dwight or some other combo like that.

I'd rather to see Batum to leave this team than Kemba. Any chance we get a 1st rd pick if we include Batum in Kemba's trade?

If this happens, we should NOT include Batum in a Kemba trade. We need to maximize the return for Kemba, not diminish his value by adding a negative contract.

If I'm going to trade Kemba, I'm looking to return maxim assets. I'd rather not have Batum sucking value from a Kemba trade. I want to squeeze all the picks and prospects I can out of a Kemba trade. I'd focus more on upside than cap relief. I'd imagine at worst, you can flip Batum for Noah or Deng to remove that final year. Although, easy for me to say since I'm not the one cutting the checks. EDIT: ha we just wrote the same thing essentially

Vanderbilt_Grad wrote:Honestly French Frank is the only potential trade out there that excites me. Phoenix is one of the few teams that could offer cap relief.
But all that said, I would rather keep Kemba.
Trading Kemba for cap relief just doesn't make any sense to me at all. We seriously have to start over if we're going to trade away our only all star draft pick from all the tanking we did. Trying to retool the lineup and build around guys like MKG, Zeller, and Frank does not excite me in the least.
We have go for maximum value. Forget trading Batum. He's going to be our tank commandeer as we rebuild. Get a team of 3-4 19-20 year olds and by the time they are deep into their contract, we'll be able to cut Batum loose and have a go at it. All this depends on drafting the right players, but at least we'll have a shot at competing instead of staying on the treadmill of mediocrity.
All that said, Kemba is still a Hornet and I'm not jumping on the rebuild bandwagon until that changes.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Re: Woj: CHA making Kemba available in trade talks
All the hoopla about the BKN pick and we’re only 3 games better than them with them missing their best players for more than half the season so far. Russell returns today after missing 2 months and Lin been out since the first game.
I might go back to being a Nets fan.

You have no right to be upset. You've supported every terrible decision that has led the franchise to the point where they might need to trade him.

Well...you know...they don't need to trade him.
And I'll decide for myself when I want to be upset.
I get that it's fun to attack me, all the cool kids are doing it, but maybe don't.

I agree with that to some extent. They need to fire Clifford and get a decent coach before evaluating what needs to be done with the roster, but they've durdled around hoping the ship would magically right itself and now they are running out of time to be able to get full value on their only good asset, so I can see why the front office would feel pressured into making a move like this.
