It's fitting this was announced on the day of the week that teams/leagues dump bad news. 60 years old, stubborn, previous health issues, and a 292-345 coaching record.

1- Kenny backed out because MJ didn't want to pay for his assistants. Not family issues.
2- When Kenny backed out, Mitch wanted to go with MDA. His #2 candidate.
3- MJ didn't want MDA because he isn't a good defensive coach.
4- Mitch therefor has to find a coach and start all over again.
5- MJ didn't want that. He wants a coach now.
6- Mitch is now forced to rehiring Clifford because MJ likes him, he is a defensive coach and we already know all about him because he was here before.

Since Mitch is going to retire in a couple years, odds we rehire Cho?

This is the most talented roster Clifford has ever coached.
He is forced to play young players this time around because we have mostly young players

The front office had to know the Optics on this hire were horrible for fans. They didn't care. It's never a smart move to alienate your fanbase.
There is zero chance that Clifford part 2 ends differently.
We will be s 35 to 45 win team every yr he is here. Book it.
If he prevents Melo from pushing the pace, which he will, it will be a catastrophe.
There are other coaches who can teach defense and hold players accountable. Clifford is not a unicorn in that regard.

Two reasons I was most excited about this upcoming season; Kai on the court, Williams manning the middle for large stretches. Does this happen?

Is it though? Young talent, definitely, but not best roster. That 2016 team is still imo a better team top to bottom.Stun704 wrote:MPM wrote:Somebody please talk me off the cliff.

To be fair, I doubt any coach coming here with expectations of playoffs was going to play Kai much next yr. He still needs another yr.MPM wrote:Two reasons I was most excited about this upcoming season; Kai on the court, Williams manning the middle for large stretches. Does this happen?

So the Big Red Cliff is back.
This organization really knows how to suck the excitement and life out of the fans with our Duren fiasco and bringing back Cliff. Maybe it wasn't Cho's fault. The only common thread is MJ. That just makes me sad.

Who I woulda took:

At least when we brought Paul Silas back it was an emergency because it was in the middle of the year and we needed to gut Larry Brown's entire rotting staff.

What?
I’m not even sure prime Kemba is better than LaMelo right now at best it’s a wash. Nobody else on that roster is as talented as Bridges, Hayward, and Rozier.

Kemba is the only player we know for sure MJ wanted and he ended up being the best

I actually think Cliff had a hand in our drafting Mark Williams.

I think there is a 0% chance Mitch wanted this hire. This has MJ written all over it. Clifford is probably a Jordan Brand dog or something.
