How much of that is schemes and inconsistent playing time? 36.4% USG for LaMelo, even Brandon looks like a bystander sometimes.

If he can't defend McCain because quick guards blow past him, then what is he even doing of solid value on that end?

Those quick guards run the gleague so every roster has them. Look at Dillingham.

Have to have defenders capable of guarding quick backcourt POA.

Yeah, have to say I’ve been surprised at his overall lack of impact so far. Offensively nominal, and as stated defensively challenged by super quick players. But every player gets exposed over time. Tre Mann I was on fire but teams are adjusting on D.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I mean very possible it could be a scheming thing although he did come from a system that orbited around Luka in the same way.

All that being said I'm not very happy with the offense we're currently running and wish there was a lot more ball movement and people movement. And I do hope we're just in the baby phase of Lee implementing his offense and things will change as we get further into the season and hopefully get our lob threats back.

Green has obviously been with Luka his entire career, but he's never ever displayed the ability to actually do stuff on offense aside from shoot open 3s. That's all he's there for, and why Dallas was willing to part with him for nothing but cap relief

Should the Hornets consider starting Cody Martin ahead of Josh Green?

The Hornets are +15.4 pts better with Martin on the floor and -24.8 worse off with Green.

My worry is with Micic on the fritz, that means less playmaking on the second unit if Cody starts. Then again maybe Josh can do with more touches and responsibility than he's getting as a starter.

He's shown flashes especially out in transition or on the move. Things the offense hasn't excelled at so far.

seems like I remember when we got him we were really happy about it. Not sorry about the trade but was hoping for more.

July 6, 2024 – Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced today the team has acquired guard Josh Green, guard Reggie Jackson and 2029 and 2030 second-round picks via Denver in a six-team trade. As part of the deal, Charlotte sends a 2025 second-round pick (via Philadelphia) and cash to the Nuggets.

Basically Hornets traded pick 38 (2025 Sixers) ate 41 million owed Josh Green, paid 5 million to cut Reggie Jackson for 2029 and 2030 Nuggets 2nds.

Underwhelming doesn't begin to describe this use of cap space given premiums charged for cap approaching this deadline.

Obviously Green was not brought in with the intention of him being negative salary. He has not met expectations but it is a bit facetious to imply he was considered dead salary at the time.

Think his aggression/energy works against him sometimes, doesn't need to get in the other player's face every time down.

He'd be a lot better if he'd just shoot more. He's our best 3pt shooter besides Melo and Seth, and yet he only takes a couple threes per game.

He has been absolutely terrible in every game but the Denver one post-ASB. He is a deadweight contract to me. Never seen a guy more content to run around without getting involved or shooting. He routinely has 2 point games, even more concerning, he routinely has 2 shot games.

Waste of space.

So, he's averaging 4pts his last 10 games on 28/27/45 splits.

For comparison, Salaun is doing 6pts on 42/39/77 splits.

I don't understand how a guy who is starting and averaging close to 30mins per game can give you almost no offensive production.

Consequence-free no less.

His claim to a starting spot is fraudulent.
