Gary Trent has gotten my interest again as a Sg. I always run hot and cold on him, but he's a UFA

All of these things are true-

We weren't really trying too hard - the tank wears people down
The refs don't respect tanking teams
The guys are mostly still young and not fully developed physically (I.e. have their grown man strength). Nurkic, Miles, Diabate, GWilliams get a pass.
They need a better strength program overall
Including core and leg work. Some Yoga would help too.
The coach has not dialed in a system that maximizes the teams assets / covers their weaknesses.
Maybe because they had so many games missed.
Maybe he isn't a good strategy guy
Some of them aren't mentally conditioned to do everything you need to do to win regularly
Hopefully that's because of number one on the list.

I think we will see some good things coming this year and that they improve in most of those areas.

Flagg would be the best option to turbo charge a change in attitude
Harper would be great too.
After that, they better be smart with the pick

One of the few free agents I would be interested in this class is Nickeil Alexander Walker. If they draft a forward with their 1st round pick he would be a good role player to fill the PoA defender role. Over the last five years hes shot 38.5% from 3pt on about 4 attempts per game.

If we can't get a ball handler/playmaker in the draft thoughts on Ben Simmons for the vet min?

Have him in that backup pf role and let him run the offense when Melo goes to the bench.

I just want nothing to do with Simmons. He’s had plenty of opportunities and is just not worth any contract IMO.

i get it, but i am still intrigued by the big sook as well.

he's defense is still elite.

I'm not screaming for it, but for the vet min why not. Low risk signing could offer some depth. We need another playmaker anyway. Why not?

exactly. he did his role fine at Clippers as well. Just don't expect him to be the all star he once was.

i hope we let Houston know we're happy to help them with any trade moves they have coming up.

they have a fair bit of talent on that bench and they need to do some consolidating.

yep, and I think they're attainable.

Reed for his crappy year had some big games at the end of the season when he get some decent time.
I think Houston should have used Jabari more this playoffs, Green just wasn't doing it and you had brooks and thompson who could play Sg

I wonder if Chris Paul would want a farewell final season here like Tony Parker had. Might be able to teach some guys some stuff.

Yes please!

Exactly the kind of vet this team needs.

With all due respect….NO…PLEASE NO!

No more elderly mentors, rah rah’s or honorary “last rodeo” players. I appreciate what they could bring, but we need serious depth utilizing people who can still play at a high level. Quite frankly, that means a quality vet in the 27 to 30 age range who will make an impact now and into the future. If these young kids didn’t get the message or the memo from last year’s senior representative, they need to get the hell out of here. At some point a player must be self motivated to improve, to reach their absolute best, or they’re just collecting a paycheck.

if a trade happened and someone wanted us to take on Jalen Green because of his terrible playoffs would you do it?

he is an athletic, plus defender who had a solid season. His decision making can be questionable though.

do you grab young talent when you can, hoping you can iron out the warts?

I can't imagine Chris Paul just collecting a paycheck. He always wants to win, to the point that he has annoyed team mates in the past. He played all 82 games last year at 28 minutes a game. He's not Taj Gibson, he would probably want to start next to Lamelo.

Tony Parker was often our best player in games during his last year.

It’s more about the ability to still be impactful, seriously delivering results ON the court, and to do it for more than one last season.

Depends on what we are trading and what pick we get.

If we get a Flagg or Harper there is no need for Green.

If we get the #6 pick then I will listen to the offers.

Jalen Green is known as a poor defender, not sure where you are getting plus defender from.

In what Scenario would we end up with one of these three guys?

Only one that makes sense is if a team like Milwaukee or Suns don't value someone like Jabari and would rather a future first. I probably wouldn't give up a future first any of those 3 guys tbh.

If we are involved in a trade like that is more likely we take back unwanted salary like a Kuzma or Allen and we getting 2nd rounders back for helping to facilitate. They aren't throwing in Reed Sheppard or Jabari to a random 3rd team for peanuts.
