If we can get kalk/Reynaud
And Fleming /penda/theiro
That's a good way wrap it up.
All 4 picks should play sooner then later too

Drafting a Center at 33 or 34 is fine with me, but please god can we not trot them out as a starter this year and pretend that is a winning strategy... There has to be another move here to find a starting center.

Gotta assume Fleming is going 31 or 32. Too much buzz and hype overnight.

I never thought we would come into the season with three rookies let alone four so I definitely expect at least one of our second round picks to get moved for a future pick. I guess alternately we could package 33 and 34 to move up to 31 to secure whoever is at the top of our board.

I was super high on him, but started to move him down my board later in the process as I did more work on other guys.

Maybe we can snag one of the guys we like at 33, then trade down from 34 to a pick in the 40s+ a future 2nd. Get Sion in the 40s.

I would not package the picks to move up just two spots;

Staying put at 33/34, we're guaranteed at least 1 of Fleming / Kalkbrenner / Reynaud. I agree Fleming is likely gone but if we're lucky, it's possible Kalkbrenner and Reynaud are both still there. If so, just take them both. Each are accomplished late first round talents who were 20/10 type guys in college at a position of need that bring different things to the table.

Kalkbrenner is a mountain of a man who reminds me of Brook Lopez defensively while Reynaud is 4/5 mix of a poor man's lauri markanan on the perimeter with a touch of Luke Kornet at C.

I’m good with Kalkbrenner but REALLY want us to also get Fleming. I think he is going to develop into a solid pro with shooting and good defense. Has really good athleticism for his size, massive wingspan. His handle is poor and he needs more work to confidently move the ball around, but is well ahead of Tiddy right now before stepping onto an NBA court.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

He feels like the kind of player we always want but get the Walmart version of. Hopefully we take him.

My top rated guys left.
Raynaud - 21st
Penda -27th
Kalkbrenner - 29th
Fleming - 30th
Markovic - 31st
Thiero - 34th
Lanier- 36th.

Thiero would be the guy I would want the most potentially for us right now after drafting two below average athletes that shoot well. Thiero is opposite, he is lightning in bottle athlete and defender that can't shoot at all- an Okogie on steriods type

plow has been banging the penda drum For a few weeks. I'm assuming he dropped because he's staying in Europe for another year?

I wouldn't say he fell, ranked 29th on consensus board. Also a year older than the other Euros, he is 20.5 already.

I’ve said I’d find some way to move up with both picks to 31 and 32. Offer to trade the 33 and a future second to Minnesota, the 34 and future #2 pick to the Celtics. Take Raynaud and Fleming. They will likely both be gone before we pick at 33. Maybe the Wolves will take Penda but they need a big. Celtics do too.

But the chatter is Charlotte is looking to trade away one of our seconds. Probably for a much worse future second and a bag of chips…and I’m sure it’s to help one of Jeffie’s buddies out. I got so SICK of Kupcake doing that crap. :droop: Don’t you start that Jeffie.

The problem is Petie and company signed some stupid player contracts to marginal add ons like Jeffries and Moore Jr. How do they sign both of these high second round picks? Why didn’t they trade both of those to get back into round 1 and select a big man they wanted? Hell the Thunder sold off their #24 pick for a 2027 first round pick. I would have given them our worst future first and a future second.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

But there's a real discussion to be had about how many rookies you want to bring in on guaranteed deals next year. 33 and 34 aren't quite in the territory of the typical two way contracts that you get in the second half of the second round. So it's very conceivable that they don't want to have four rookies on guaranteed contracts for next year.

I really did expect them to package one of those or both of those 2nd round picks with 29 to move up a little bit in the first round but I guess they were happy with the depth that was available.

penda as a stash makes sense.

I don't want to get into a situation like we had with Mitch where the entire back half of our roster was made up of second round picks and rookie contract projects. we are already looking at: kon, liam, At least one second round pick, tiddy, kj, nsj... 6 young guys needed development minutes.

If I'm the hornets I'm probably looking to move nsj in july, At the very least. Especially if we resign mann.

Yep, I get why you wouldn’t want 4 rookies, so why in hades didn’t they do something about that after making the Williams deal? I cite the deal OKC made as an example of what could have been pulled off. Take these assets and get 3 picks in the first round. Jeffie could still have gotten his bookend Kon twin Liam for the matching set AND secured the best center option at that time without sitting here wondering if Raynaud or Kalkbrenner will be available later tonight.

Quite frankly, knowing he was trading away our starting center early on, he should have expended assets to get a pick MUCH higher in this draft to aquire Sorber. Granted that would have been a more difficult proposition.

I am not impressed in the least with Jeffie.

Trading 31 for 33 and 34 would be straight out of the Mitch Cupcake book of asset waste.
