I'm ashamed to admit it, but I was a huge WWF fan growing up. Got out of it before it reached it's pinnacle of popularity though.

I was seriously into the WWF growing up - back in the hey day with the Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man, Heart Foundation etc. Went and saw it live when it came to Oz for the 1st time.
Still enjoy it today, but don't watch it as much as I used to. There is a little too much talking these days.
TNA has some awesome athletes doing some amazing things these days. The bouts are much more fun to watch.

Re: Off Topic Thread
I wanted to watch when I was younger but it seemed like I never got to see the big names because they'd wrestle mostly at ppv's. Talkn bout Hogan, Warrior, Giant etc...
I somehow got pulled into watching WCW and WWF in the late 90's. Oh yeah it was an ex girlfriends little brothers. They would play this game on the N64 and it was so fun I started watching the actual show. Eventually ran into some buddies who both played the games and watched wrestling and I didn't stop watching until sometime around the Goldberg vs. Brock fight. At that point so many of the guys I liked to watch were gone and the storyline were not as fun. I'm not sure what it's like now. I haven't watched it in years.
Damn, that reminds me Packer and Penner used to actually talk about wrestling on their old show. I always found that hilarious on a sports talk show. Penner used to be a wrestling junkie. Every time I'd see him on the internet he'd be checking out some wrestling site.

Re: Off Topic Thread
I watched a video with a couple of friends (the King of the Ring tournament that Owen Hart won, so I guess I was 8 or 9) when I was in elementary school and was obsessed from that point on until 9th grade, where I stopped following it at all. Bret Hart has to probably be considered my all-time favorite, I used to have some of his shades that I found after college and wore as my actual sunglasses until I lost or broke them
It was awesome, I had forgotten about it until I was browsing through some pictures the other night.
I loved how gimmicky everyone used to be, like real life super heroes (Undertaker, Yokozuna, Razor Ramon, Diesel, etc). As I aged I appreciated mic skills (Monday Night Jericho) or athletic ability (the luchadors). As I was getting out of it I only really watched ECW because they big two had become so stale and the talent level and story writing there was so good. Shane Douglas, Taz, RVD, Sabu, Jerry Lynn--plus their major shows always borrowed puroreso or lucha talent, which was pretty hard to see back when the internet used to be a baby. But yea... pretty much basketball and pro wrestling dominated like 5-6 years of my life.
WCW vs. Nwo World Tour was one of the only games I remember playing on the n64 (besides goldeneye) and I remember playing it's successor a bit too. In fact, I tried to get an emulator on my macbook so I could play a rom of either of those games, but no luck yet. I read about some of the recent games and got a used copy on my psp, but the gm mode is so limiting relative to what I would hope for that I never really got into it.
You guys mentioning Goldberg make me remember how much I used to loathe how he was force fed down our throats. It was like watching the women wrestle without the t & a...

From the GT. Speaking of shoryukens.
I love this game. It's been a long time but they hit it out of the park. Except for Seth. That dude is such a bitch.
You ever seen the old Street Fighter V series? Fun stuff. After playing this game the last couple days I'm about to bust that out and start watching it again.

I played some of the Marvel v. Capcom series in between SSFIIT and SFIV, but nothing else. Rarely did I even play a fighting game besides the first couple of Tekken and MK games. Is SFV an anime?
Have mostly been playing h2h with people, tried doing arcade on hard Tuesday night. Thought I'd never make it past Mike Bison and then Zangief kept kicking my ass too bad. I have a lot of work to put in before I'll be able to unlock Akuma or Gouken.

Re: Off Topic Thread
I actually just bought a Xbox360 after being away from gaming for a while. Could you all recommend any games that you think I might like? I have FIFA 09 and Left for Dead right now. In the past I liked games that were somewhat non-linear and very strategic. Having a good story helps. Also, I wont be getting Xbox live, so that could affect the decision. Games cost about $100 (and im making pesos) where I live so its an important decision. (Maybe its the same price everywhere, i actually have no idea.)

360 ought to have a 3 year warranty from M$
You should get a Wii anyway, it's awesome
e4- I second Slam's NBA2k9 recommendation. I'm curious if you could get a gamefly subscription where you live? Probably would be the best way to try games and figure out what you like without having to drop $100 a pop. I'll make a list of games I'd recommend once I catch up with a couple of other things.

Re: Off Topic Thread
Sorry to hear about that fats. I bought a warranty with my 360 at bestbuy that way you can change it out as soon as it breaks. Microsoft really fraked the hardware up though.
e4 if you've never played Warcraft 3 on the PC i'd suggest giving it a try. I'm sure it's pretty cheap now too. It's a RTS game so there is a ton of quick thinking, strategy/depth. Especially in the online play. You can go at your on pace if your just playing the single player, which has a very good story. It's still one of my favorites. On the xbox Fallout is very good. It's an open world FPS/RPG. You can do anything you want but it also has a storyline to follow if you choose.

Walt, I've never been a big fighting game player either but I've always loved both Street Fighter and Soul Caliber. Marvel vs. Capcom II is still my favorite though. I can't wait to get more playing time with this one. I've only beaten it 3 times and the only toon I've unlocked is Sakura. Ken and Sagat didn't unlock anyone for me.
And yeah, Street Fighter "V"(not 5) was an old anime that was just goofy fun and had some cool fights. It came out in 1995 so the animation is not quite what shows are today.
I'll back the 2k9 vote as well. I love it. It has it's quirks but it's still the best bball game out there.

Re: Off Topic Thread
WOT!? Wii is awesome! Virtual Console allows me to keep my SNES/NES/Genesis out of sight and still allows me to play some of my all time favs, as well as games I missed out on the first time around (Romance of the Three Kingdoms--this is you).
No doubt party games are it's best application, but there are some great one player games worth playing (SM Party, Smash bros, Mario Kart). RE4, SM Galaxy, SW Force Unleashed, Trauma Surgeon are all games I've played on my lonesome and enjoyed a lot. The limitation right now is 3rd party development, which is mostly an issue up to this point of developers not believing in the Wii initially, so Nintendo made all of the best games (you're wasting money/time getting one of the games that's just a port)
Still going to work on 360 recs, but I had to respond to Chabs when I saw what he wrote. For shame!

Does it have Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom?
