my gut says the pistons will start all 3, with smith starting at sf. drummond will get subbed around 6 min mark with smith sliding to pf and monroe sliding to c. then they spend the rest of the half rotating with 2 of 3 on the floor at most times. repeat for 2nd half. end games with smith and monroe since drummond cant shoot fts.

Why would they trade Drummond though? He's one of their best young players, I wouldn't consider Drummond to be on the block
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

They wouldn't, I wouldn't think so anyhow.

They've got two expirings in Stuckey and Villanueva. They suck but both could help a playoff team a little or help a team in CBA trouble I guess.

Pistons won't be in the playoffs starting a rookie guard and Brandon Knight...but they almost certainly won't be one of the worst 8 teams. Unless they pull of a trade for a Rondo-type player, their pick will be in the 11-15 range and we'll get it.

I don't think Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be starting. They'll likely start one of either Rodney Stuckey or Chauncey Billups alongside Brandon Knight in the backcourt, but I agree with your assessment that they're far from a certainty to make the playoffs

I think they will be starting Billups and Knight.

Should take a little pressure off Knight

Billups has been playing 2 guard for a while now. I think he's there to teach Knight more than he is to play.

I'm not sure how many games Billups has in him anyway, sadly he is nearing the same stage of his career as Steve Nash that is if he is not already there.

Detroit board mentioned that Dumars was quoted as saying that Billups was signed to play point guard. :dontknow:

Billups is like 137 years old and has had injury problems the last few seasons, I don't think his body will hold up to starting and playing big minutes.

Billups & Knight will share point guard duties if they start in the backcourt together. Nevertheless, it is funny that they re-signed Billups at this declining age of his career to help steer them back into playoff contention, especially considering that they still have the guy that they expected to succeed him on the roster, Stuckey

Billups was signed for his brain more than anything. He'll be playing the D-Fish role most likely. That's been the biggest limiter for Detroit, a ball-handler with IQ and can control tempo. Stuckey loves hero ball and Knight is just taking longer than usual to figure out how to not zig when he should be zagging.

Not really a bad thing. I guess if they think Knight can play 32 minutes a night, Billups should be able to play 16 minutes behind him.

If Knight played 32mpg then we probably wouldn't get their pick.

Don't they still have Calderon or did he walk?

Dallas gave Calderon a ridiculous contract. He's due to make like 12 or 13 mil this year
