I can not think of a specific example where a guy was just pulled from the rotation midgame. I just don't think the answer is to make an example of your youngest player when things like this happen... it is expected he will have a bad game here or there.

You shouldn’t have to think too hard.

He did the same thing to Bridges in the same game for the same reasons.

Not sure that is the same thing. Miles and LaMelo came in at the same time in the third, Lamelo was benched 90 seconds later. Miles played the next 6 minutes of the third, but he did not play any minutes in the 4th.

We played the same guys the majority of the 4th (Terry whole 4th), so I do not know if that was a Miles benching or just riding the hot hands.

You should read JB’s post game comments then.

All of them.

Not just the cut away headlines that media outlets use and focus on.

I feel like Ball "reality tv" fans would be content with 10-72 record every season as long as the Ball brothers play every minute and make highlights

Another incentive to why we should of been starting LaMelo.

I think its more JB needs to be aware and understand the totality of how he needs to represent things to a growing media audience

it won't be just ash and gerald throwing him softball pitches forever

He was always going to get that unless we literally benched him to start the season and there were no injuries for the entire year.

he's going to get way more than the QO anyway, this literally doesn't matter in the slightest

I was thinking it might matter because his QO before was equal to his cap hold. Do you know if his QO going up is going to cause his cap hold to go up? because if so that theoretically gives us less cap space this summer.

fair point, but it's a matter of a couple million, there's no point in changing your game plan just to maneuver your way into a couple million of flexibility that we probably won't even use.

It does but I'm sure the front office expected that to be the case during the offseason. It wasn't updated on any of the cap sites due to it not being official till now.

I guess freewheeling basketball is fun to watch. Any semi-decent NBA player given the rope the Ball brothers have will have highlights after highlights too. The Ball brothers have been freewheeling with impunity since High School. Lavar clamped down on coaches if the kids didn't get their way. The NBA is different. I guess Lonzo found out. Lamelo will find out soon.

LaMelo has vastly better skills than Lonzo, particularly ballhandling and BBIQ, I'm not worried about him in the slightest.

His body isn't ready for major minutes every night, even though we want him to get them.

He needs a few solid years of NBA conditioning and weight training. Just look at Brandon Ingram and what a few years can do to a weak a frail body like Ingram's was when he entered the league

Theres a ton of kids who had fathers as their coaches with a long rope but never got d1 offers or went pro. Melos vision is a gift and yes it comes from being allowed to take risks early in his development. the NBA isn't different if you're talented...look at trae young the hawks let him make mistakes his rookie year

Wiseman is slowly taking over the roty race, unfortunately

I don't really see how? Ball shouldn't be in the top spot after his recent play but Wiseman played poor enough to get benched. Frank the Tank was locking him up last night. Hali probably deserves it if awarded today.

Edwards efficiency is horrible but his flash plays are really something. I really hope he does a dunk contest at some point.

I dunno but Wiseman had 25 and 8 the other night or something. His stock is trending up. But yeah haliburton is at the top or up there as well.

hasnt been good since the triple double
8 games, 9ppg, 5.5rpg, 5.8apg, 35/24/67%, -16 net rating
those are certainly not roty numbers... or even 1st team

he needs a big game (with positive +/-) soon

that being said.... #freeball

I think it's still anyone's award to win as of today, but yeah Wiseman did not do much last night in a loss to the Suns.

My guess is we fire Borrego in 10 games, Ball gets the keys to the car and never looks back and wins the award easily.

Could not care less if LaMelo is awarded RoY.

I’d rather him have the best overall career out of his draft class than the best rookie season.

I have a money bet on him winning.
