 Alright, good point. Seriously, though, are you guys in in the Lance bidding or what?

We better be. He's a hand-in-glove fit if we can find a couple shooters for the bench.

According to the WT, looks like you guys got him! Now can Clifford keep him from going off the deep end? Do you need another vet presence to keep him straight in the locker room? Sixers have Thad Young...

I hesitate to ask, but didn't we have enough cap space to sign Lance and Hayward?

Maybe they weren't options A and B like everyone is assuming?

Without Marvin Williams, we would have had to trade Henderson for pure cap space, along with maybe JT. But that would have been awesome.

Al/Biz
Vonleh/Zeller
MKG/Hayward
Lance/[Hayward]
Kemba

That's a crazy, crazy core.

We had 19.5.

Lance (9) + Hayward (14) was not possible unless we did a sign + trade for Hayward where we sent out about 4 million at least.

Ah, ok, for some reason the number I had in my mind was $23M.

Because Neal's expiring should be easy to give away in which case it would have been possible had Utah not matched.

So it's still possible that Hayward + Lance was the plan, but I doubt it. I think the plan was:

1) Afflalo (here we subtracted Henderson + Hairston $$) + Lance
2) Hayward
3) Lance
4) Trade

When Houston was considering matching on Parsons and Lance was on the verge of signing with the Mavs or before that if we caught wind of Lance leaning towards Dallas, I think we skipped to 4. What I'm curious about is can we combine 3 + 4 and of course that depends on trade scenarios that never leaked and that we know nothing about. We can only guess that Lance's agent communicated Lance's progress in talks with Dallas and the Hornets must have responded by high activity on the trade front.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11225 ... mer-league

"Gordon Hayward?" one executive asked, referring to the four-year, $63 million offer sheet the swingman signed with Charlotte and that was matched by Utah. "Yeah, that's a lot of money in 2011 dollars. But it's not a lot of money in 2016 dollars. Guys who got paid the max this year and last year are going to be bargains on the back end of their deal.

IMHO that was the big picture on why Cho was willing to Max Ward and why Utah was willing to match.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Bump. Guy is playing fantastic. If we get him we are comfortably 4-0.

Hes worked on his body, and game. Kudos to Utah management for matching, Im jealous.

Yeah I think it's pretty clear Stephenson is not the better shooter.

The Jazz matching hurt and I still wish Cho tried to acquire Hayward in a sign and trade. But it seems the Jazz must have completely slammed the door on trading Hayward.

Well, you and I actually agreed on him coming here. I loved us giving him the max. Oh well.

Yup, Gordo just hit the game winner vs. Cleveland. He's been ballin this season.

Glad someone is noticing.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Quin Snyder got Hayward ballin. If we woulda got him he woulda been shooting worse than he did last year in Clifford's lame duck offense that's so predictable to defend.

He's better for us than Lance though. It's no contest, really.
