He deserves some votes but I got to give it to Coach Horny, especially if they make the playoffs.

This just made me mad at Okafor and Diaw for some reason.

BrotherDave I thoroughly enjoy your dry sense of humor and find you intelligent but sometimes I can't tell if you're dishing out backhanded compliments to ease your anxiety about the franchise.

I want to ask you something point blank.

Are you satisfied with the signing of Al Jefferson and if you are would you be willing to reveal it more so that you can just kind of let go and enjoy it? Are you enjoying this man's play? Are you less excited than fans, more excited, about the same? I sometimes can't tell if you're enjoying this season despite your regret we didn't tank for a chance at a potential cornerstone star.

Enjoy the journey brother.

Somebody with more time than I have...please check to see if Big Al's season is shaping up to be the best performance ever by any Bobcat. Then a tougher comparison, how does it compare to any season by a Charlotte Hornet? Granted I'm looking at offensive numbers only...no harm in that. Heck, I can't think of anyone who put up such gaudy stats here since Grandmama in his heyday, or perhaps Zo.

WE LOVE BIG AL !!! :D
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

AL Jefferson this season----21.6pt, 10.5reb, 2.2ast, 1.1blk and .9stl on 50.5% shooting

Gerald Wallace best season-----18.2pt, 10reb, 2.1ast,1.1blk and 1.5stl on 48.4% shooting

Emeka Okafor best season-----14.4pt, 11.3reb,1.2ast,2.6blk and .9stl on 53.2% shooting

Larry Johnson best season-----22.1pt, 10.5reb,4.3ast,.3blk and .6stl on 52.6% shooting

Alonzo Mourning best season-----21pt, 10.2reb, 1.4ast, 3.1blk and and .5stl on 50.5% shooting

you can definitely make the argument Al is having the best season ever as a Charlotte Hornet/Bobcat PF/C, probably 2nd best behind Larry's best season

Yeah, came on here to say the exact same thing. Averaged 27 a game on 48% from the field and 47% from 3. Got some MVP votes that year.

OT: speaking of rice/hornets, i have slowly been working on putting together a charlotte hornets 88-02 records thread similar to the bobcats one we have now for the bobcats.

Enjoy the journey brother.

First and foremost I just love playing Devil's Advocate. It's good for stimulating discussion.

I can't really say I'm satisfied b/c I'm taking a really long view of the situation. Most fans like to live in the here and now so being a Devil's Advocate I tend to look ahead. I won't know if I'm satisfied until at least this season (and maybe next season) fully plays out. I want a contender, year in and year out, a la the Spurs. I don't see Al, Cho, Higgins, and Co. turning us into the East Conference Spurs. We've made some steps in the right direction (Clifford) and we've continued to make bad steps (allowing Higgins to continue drawing checks).

I'm rooting like hell for the 6th seed b/c if we get 7th or 8th and get destroyed, on top of losing our pick and Detroit keeping ours, that will be my worst nightmare. I don't really enjoy watching Al b/c he makes us very one dimensional (something I fear will be greatly exploited during the playoffs) and I think he's boring. I don't tolerate players that are terrible at defense, I don't care how good at offense they are. He doesn't defend, he doesn't draw fouls and he doesn't make his teammates that much better. Those are 3 big no-nos for big men in my book. He also travels a lot. I hated Jordan b/c he got away with traveling a lot too. I'll take those championships though. So basically Al only wins me over with a terrific playoff run. If we become the Bucks, I will bitch about Al and the front office that signed him for eternity.

The Bucks? Gee well set the bar a little higher why don't you.

So you're going to postpone your enjoyment of this playoff run until you know if there's another playoff run and another? Why skip out on enjoying the first one? Are you concealing your enjoyment when we win because it conflicts with your long-term view? I mean you're a fan and you must feel happy when we win now. Have you ever cheered Al Jefferson when he makes a shot or does he have to put up 35-15 against the Pacers and elbow Roy Hibbert in the face? You did not feel entertained watching Jordan? I hated him because I got bored of him winning so consistently I wanted to see something new, anything.

Do you think it is possible to both indulge in the here-and-now while maintaining an eye on the future? Do you think Jordan can do both? He certainly seemed to be able to strike that balance on the court. His timing was impeccable.

Big Al is pretty good and all but you people do realize that we aren't even .500 and are only going to make the playoffs because most of the Eastern conference teams are actively trying not to make the playoffs right? The thought of him getting even a single MVP vote is laughable. He probably isn't even a top 20 player in this league.

You can say that all you want but we still have quality wins from teams that'll be the exact same next year. If we had only been winning against teams that are tanking then you could get away with saying that but I'm pretty sure the Blazers, Clippers, Pacers, Warriors, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Nets and Raptors are all quality teams fighting in the playoff spots. We have also had a top 10 defense the entire season all the while we've retained all the same players the year before when we had the 5th worst defense in the league. Do you honestly think these teams tanking this year are going to have a miraculous comeback next year and kick us out of the playoffs? I don't think so, only time will tell but it seems highly unlikely as most of these teams have a handful of problems with their team ie: Irving, Waiters not getting along. New York: Will probably lose Melo and have to rebuild. Philly just plain stinks. Im also curious as to why you think Al Jefferson getting an MVP vote is laughable? You do know MVP is most valuable player (to a team) and not most popular. Now why I'm not trying to say Lebron and KD are not deserving because they most certainly are but you have to see what Al has done for this franchise as well as his career in his first year as a Bobcat. Hes having arguably one of the best seasons of his career on both sides of the court and hes been putting up absurd numbers as of late ( 35 points 15 reb against the Nets). I just think he should get some credit because of how huge of an impact he is for this team. We wouldn't be anywhere near the playoffs if it weren't for him and that to me is what an MVP is.

Charlotte is a better team than their current record indicates. It took them a while to gel, as well as overcome lengthy injuries to three of their most impactful players early in the season, but now they are building a winning chemistry. It wouldn't surprise me if they won over 50 games next season with the right moves via draft & free-agency. Al Jefferson deserves some MVP consideration even though he won't come close to winning, or better yet All-NBA team candidacy
