I mean... I brought up the idea to re-sign him a while ago. For like... 1/4th his current contract. If we keep him on any big deals, that's an F.

We can't have big money players who miss half the season every season. If he's back, it should be as a 6th/7th man.

I have no interest in bringing Gordon Hayward back at all

It's already bad enough dealing with LaMelo and Mark's injuries, we can't afford to have any more injury prone players on this roster. That’s how you end up with 3rd stringers getting too many minutes

I have a feeling next year will be Gordon's last year in the NBA. He'll probably sign a one year deal for a contender, play a third of the season and then that will be it for him

Seriously f*ck Gordon Hayward. Anyone that wants to bring him back for anything more than a vet min (with a minimum games played requirement) needs their heads read. Talk about gluttons for punishment.

Hayward's games played per season since leaving Utah.....

01 Bos
72 Bos
52 Bos
44 Cha
49 Cha
50 Cha
25 Cha

It's a funny coincidence that he has not once got above his two Boston seasons games played totals once in Charlotte despite playing here for 4 years (ignoring the leg break season - freak accident).

The guy is a grifter and I'm convinced he intentionally stalls his injury rehabs out as long as possible to avoid playing. Not to mention his visually obvious apathy towards playing and his reluctance to take on a leadership role on this team as a well credentialled veteran. Actions speak louder than words with this guy.

He just doesn't really care for basketball anymore (or at least playing basketball in Charlotte). It's super obvious to see he checked out years ago.

Wish Gordon the best in OKC, maybe he can get hot and win them a playoff series.

Didn't work out here, but I think he is a good guy.
At same time Glad we don't have to worry about paying him this summer.

My closing thoughts on him...

A talented player but his actual performance on the court never matched his contract and his actual performance on the court was seen so little due to how injury prone he was and how slow he was to recover from those injuries. Even when he had big games, they seemed to be very ... non-impactful. He seemed like a nice enough guy, though, but given some of the stories about our culture and locker room, I would have hoped that a veteran like him would have had more of a leadership role in helping shape that into something more positive.

All in all, I wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the road, I almost forget that this guy ever played for us. His time here was just ... not very memorable.

Absolutely nailed it.

Injured all the time
ALWAYS slow to recover (intentionally?)
Passive
Non-leader/culture setter
Apathetic
Clearly focusing on things outside of basketball

Was good when healthy. Underrated defender. Great connector and was solid fit next to Melo.
We were much better when he played.
Sadly, just can't stay healthy and super slow at recovering from injuries.

Hope she enjoys her husband making vet min.

Hayward is no longer reliable because of his health. He's getting the ball in Charlotte because we suck! He's not even a top 8 rotation player in OKC.

In theory it made plenty of sense. You get a vet to try and mesh with all those young players over there.

He was just absolutely horrible.

I don't get taking shots at his wife. She is obviously going to defend her husband, whether she's right or wrong.

I don't think it's a good look at Presti either. You don't have to say anything like that. Just let it be.

Nah, the wife doesn’t need to publicly tweet like that. Just looks silly. Always has.
