Michael Kidd-Gilchrist This Season

Post#1301 » by mcaponi2 » Tue Jul 30, 2013 6:48 pm

Our team is finally starting to look respectable and is slowly starting to climb out of the NBA basement. Many people believe that we need to draft a franchise player to get to that next level. I think that MKG can be that player because he is so young with room to grow. With that being said what kind of season do you expect from the second year player and should we go for another top 5 pick?

I don't care what his shot looks like. Dude can be Shawn Marion 2.0 with the form he has but as long as it drops, I don't care.

Martin's form is unusual. Marion's form is bad.

A bad form limits you as a shooter. An unusual form may not.

I don't like Bleacher Report but this is a neat article. Plus they use one of LamarMatics videos (MKG) Highlight.

I didn't like them either until I saw their name featured on nbatv. Then I figured if the nba finds them credible I can no longer justify not using them as a resource. But yes very good article. Thanks for posting.

Not exactly the high point of my career, but I'll take it. Seeing one of my videos is always a good feeling, the best one being the time Grantland had an article on NBA bench-warmers and roughly a third part of it was based on what you can see in a video of mine on Chuck Nevitt. Thanks for posting this.

I was looking at Andrei Kirilenko's career stats today and couldn't help but think that MKG could have a somewhat similar NBA career. Would you be happy with MKG putting up career numbers similar to Kirilenko?

I know it is way to early to talk about MKG's career as the kid is just 19 but he seems to have a number of strengths and weaknesses similar to Kirilenko's

A perennial DPOY candidate and a border-line all-star? I would love that, to be honest.

Here are their rookie seasons. Quite quite similar:

AK was a bit older his rookie year but I see the similarity in their games.

mkg will never be the shotblocker that AK was, but other than that, they are similar players in terms of the type of impact they have on the game and their role with a team.

I completely agree with this comparison, I actually made the same on on the GB about a week ago.

The Marion comparison obviously makes sense as well as the Gerald Wallace but he reminds me more of Kirilenko to be honest, the guy is a stat stuffer.

He is an awesome defender both on the perimiter and in the post and his help defense is ridiculous.

Shooting is the single most overrated aspect of basketball.

I would be extremely ecstatic for MKG to have a Kirilenko like career, MKG is the type of guy that can contribute to multiple facets of the game like Kirilenko and while you may not get all the accolades, chances are that you will be a major reason for your team winning games.

Excellent comparison lottery mafia.

I think so, probably even better, but I don't think MKG is half the shot-blocker AK47 was in his prime, he averaged upwards of 3bpg in multiple seasons. Other than that, terrific comparison. I can see MKG being better offensively though.

Love this Mark Price hire. I can already tell significant differences in his shot.

His elbow in under the ball and not flying out to the side like it was last year.

He is shooting ball more at the top of his jump.

His release is much quicker.

All that is really wrong with it now is that hitch, but even that looks like its getting smaller.

If this guy gets a consistent jump shot, he will be an NBA Star.

Release still looks late, but it's quicker than before. Hitch has improved quite a bit. Form looks much better. Improvement is improvement though.

Well imagine after Price has a year or two with his star pupil ;)

MKG is going to surprise people this season, I have no doubt.
