Gary Harris | COLLEGE: Michigan St. | AGE: 19 | HT: 6-4 | WT: 210 | POS: SG

Analysis: The Pistons sent this pick to the Bobcats as part of the Ben Gordon trade two years ago. Most NBA teams see a pretty substantial drop in talent after the top 10 players here. Harris is part of that upper tier as one of the most talented guards in the draft. He's struggled a bit with injuries, and after a strong freshman season, his shot abandoned him early this season. But he's the type of two-way player who could be a long-term upgrade over Gerald Henderson in Charlotte.

T.J. Warren | COLLEGE: N.C. State | AGE: 20 | HT: 6-8 | WT: 233 | POS: SF

Analysis: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was supposed to be their small forward of the future, but his struggles on the offensive end have limited his impact. Warren won't have any problems there. He's the leading scorer in the ACC and has a real nose for the ball.

Might as well trade for Eric Gordon before drafting Gary Harris to get a 2 year rental on the more proven version to see if it works. I'm not enthused by this draft one bit. I like James Young but it's gonna take him a few years to adapt and even then he still might not be a game changing type of player. Even McDermott is only gonna be able to do but so much in the NBA game. Push for the playoffs my G.

There has to be a better option on the trade market than dealing for Eric Gordon though. I agree that Charlotte shouldn't take their foot off the gas, neglecting their chance to give invaluable playoff experience to this young core in ill-advised hopes of landing something sufficient enough to significantly help in the future outside of the top-5 in the draft. So many fans are worried about being on the treadmill for the next few years, but I would fear being at the bottom of the standings until the team is inevitably sold to another city more

Boston and Houston drafted young talent and then traded some of it for more established players later. There are multiple ways to get better and trading now isn't the only one.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Maybe, I'd rather wait until the second but I wouldn't hate it depending on who's available.

Last year Glen Rice tore up the D-League, played his way into the second and...

.... is currently back in the D-League.

He wasn't even that great in college. If his name was Jon Smith he wouldn't even be in the D League right now.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but I'm surprised I haven't seen Nik Stauskss' name. He doesn't have the nose for the ball and defense that Gary Harris has, but the guy can shoot the lights out and score multiple ways.

I like him quite a bit, could really use him at the SG position

Would you guys rather have Zach Lavine or Gary Harris? Those are the two guys I think we could really consider

Gary Harris is Gerald Henderson in disguise! Don't let him fool you. He's shooting 32% from 3. Do not want.

Zach Lavine is shooting 45% from 3! Zach Lavine is the man we want.

Zach Lavine. Lavine remind me of Brandon Roy while Gary Harris remind me of a poor man's version of Bradley Beal.

Gary Harris was just in a shooting slump to start the season, also he was not healthy. Over his last 3 games he has shot 10 of 16 from three, while putting up 27,24, and 23 points. Also he plays pretty good defense and is a tough player in general. I would love for us to land him.

His three point percentage is already up to 35% and from the looks of it he has found his stroke.

Lavine is the better athlete, but Gary Harris knows how to score the ball better and has a more complete game.

JMAC brings up a great point about Harris being banged up earlier. Harris is probably the safer player but I'm liking Lavine better right now. I'm not so concerned with his lack of defense b/c with MKG on the wings with him that shouldn't be a big deal. I like his size beside Kemba better than the smallish Harris too. Bottom line is we need someone willing and able to rain threes.

I think Harris really has proven more and has great shooting mechanics and can get himself to the rim. Also a solid defender. I'd probably take Zach Lavine for his upside though.

From the little I've seen of LaVine, I think he's more likely to emerge as a star player. I'm breaking my policy of drafting win-now players for him because his skills match our needs so developing him for one or two years would be well worth it. I prefer a shooter beside Kemba who can also be a playmaker.

With a second high pick or if Charlotte can use assets to move higher, I still like Julius Randle for his NBA readiness. There's no BS there. He can step in and put up a double double.

Kemba
LaVine
MKG
Randle
Jefferson

It's damn good.

I'm intrigued by the possibility of the rookie Randle going at Zeller in practice. He plays big and Zeller plays small. I'd love to see Zeller toughen up and have to fight for his spot on the pecking order. Zeller would have to shoot outside over Randle in order to have any chance, so his shot would develop. He'd have to learn to play more aggressive as well.
