I still don't think it was about the money for Lin. He wanted to start and prove himself.

Yep I agree. It's almost too low - but it gives the Nets flexibility and as he said it's not what is important to him

Sad he won't be in Charlotte next season - great year, great team and great fans

It's been a fun ride with the hornets. Really enjoyed the classy and fair comments from posters here. Seems like Hornets is going to have a very successful FA by retaining Batum. Good luck for the upcoming seasons, it might be a challenge for the nets given their current roster, but may the best team win.

Looking forward to posting here again next season when hornets face against nets.

Hornets and Nets play against each other four times a year.
Hope both teams make playoffs next season.
Most NBA stats aren't credible. At most times the people who interprets those data are biased, or the data themselves are flawed. Basketball is just too complicated with so many uncontrollable variables.

Will check in every once in awhile. Hornets are an easy team to root for. Hope MKG reaches his full potential.

3 yr $36 is certainly a discount, but he probably took less to start, reunite with Atkinson, and have the 3rd yr player option which will let him get one more payday if he does well.

By the looks of that baddass scowl on his face apparently wearing his cap like a d-bag doesn't strike his funny bone?

Well my Linsane friends. It was a great year and I wish you guys the best. I selfishly wanted Lin to stick around but I'm truly happy he's found a place to make his own. He's every bit a starting point guard and I hope he takes Brooklyn to the playoffs.

I'll miss Lin man. I really enjoyed him on our team, but if he wanted to start and try and prove himself more than stick with a team with playoff aspirations then there probably wasn't much we could do about it.

Because they didn't have any sort of Bird rights with Lin, he was always going to be difficult to retain $ wise. From the start my feeling was that he was the guy least likely to be back because of that.

The starting thing is obviously a big deal too, but I'm betting that it wasn't the only factor.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

As fan boards go, The Hornets fans were definitely the classiest. Saints compared to the laker boards, and gods compared to the rockets boards. Good luck !

I'm guessing the Atkinson connection was huge as was probably their new GM Sean Marks (from Spurs) commitment to create a high character culture there. Plus there is a lot of love for Lin in NYC

But yeah probably the most important thing for him was the chance to really see how good he could be
