Memphis is too, they should trade everyone...
I get we suck, but we have had our top 8 guys miss 48 games already this year and counting.
If you look at just 3 man lineups, not even 5 man. We don't have a single lineup in the top 150 for mins.

I don't think we are a juggernaut healthy, but if we had just average injury luck instead of bottom 3 I think we are probably closer to 11-13 and still have some healthy outlook at least until trade deadline.

We've dealt with this these same issues for years, Memphis is struggling because they lost key FA's and Ja is suspended.

We can't just keep waiting for a team of injury prone players to not be injury prone because we may not suck if everyone gets healthy.

We've tried this for the past several years, and all we have is two blowouts in the playin to show for it.

Memphis is struggling because they lost Adams, Ja, Clarke thus far and Smart and Kennard have missed time.

Nobody is saying we should be completely injury free, but when you are missing 6 of your top 7 guys it doesn't matter what kind of depth you have. There is noway there are 3 teams that have been more impacted by injury than us thus far.

I would be fine if we were middle of the road and Terry missed time for example but everyone else combined missed 5 games. Thats not close to what has been happening though. Signing Delon Wright for the MLE isn't fixing PJ, Mark, Terry, LaMelo, Miles all missing tonights game.

RJ Barrett would be a good fit for the Hornets imo. I have no idea how the deal happens, maybe we are 3rd team in a Mitchell trade but his attacking the rim and drawing fouls along with size is good fit next to Miller and Ball.

I actually love this idea. Miles and RJ are about equal players with RJ having the benefit of not being a convicted wife beater. They will both be the same monetary-wise come this summer and RJ isnt exactly an extremely difficult player to get.

Confused. We hate Terry Roziers contract who makes I think like 24 million a year but want RJ Barrett who makes more and is not close to the player Rozier is. Barrett is robotic and would not improve us in anyway. I'd honestly rather let Miles go altogether than trade him for Barrett. Not even sure how that would work anyway.

We do not want anything to do with Barrett. Trust me.

I don't think it's Terry's contract, his contract is probably his market value. It's his age (almost 30) and being the only player in the starting 5 that is a reasonable trade candidate (besides Gordon, who is expiring).

Pretty much the only reason I wouldn't trade Rozier is if we think Miles is leaving. Because outside of that, our starting 5 is set. We can't keep playing the same core and expecting different results from what we've had for the past few seasons. Age, upside and contract, Terry is just the odd man out. Especially considering we're on pace for another top 6-ish pick and whoever that is should be a starter sooner rather than later or at least be one of our top 5-7 players too.

Melo (obvious starter)
Terry
Gordon (Miller will replace him, obvious starter)
Miles (if we keep him, obvious starter)
Mark (obvious starter)

But I don't think Barrett is the answer. Feels like people have been waiting him to take another step for a years. He hasn't improved much from his rookie year. Nobody would care about him if he wasn't a Knick.

So I don't think we need another player like him. We need quality role players instead of a bunch of 2nd round combo guards, projects and Swarm players.

.I whole heartedly agree about quality role players /depth. Also agree about Barrett. I cannot emphasize enough that he is not the answer to anything. However, we haven't seen our core play together for what 3 games or something. Isn't like Rozier is locked up until he's 36 or something. I'm sure we will draft a talented 2 guard to be his replacement in next years draft regardless. Jakobe Walter.

I’d honestly prefer Exum over Barrett at the moment.

I saw Barret as more of a replacement to Bridges than Roizer.

With the way he has played, I do not think Bridges should be getting the money he will get especially with his off court issues. I'd rather be overpaying a younger less troublesome Barret than Bridges.

When I read headlines like “Celtics looking to trade for improving depth”, it reminds me how deep a hole this team is in. For a coaching staff that thinks they’re on the cusp of playoffs, it’s amazing how little benefit we get from our bench. Injuries expose how capable they are (or are not). We waive Theo who is snatched right up by Phoenix. He showed flashes but didn’t develop here. Common theme with this organization.

When healthy we have PJ, Miller and Nick as key reserves (the way Cliff deploys lineups). Not bad. Depth behind them is marginal to poor. Too young or just not good enough for league play. Bryce and NSJ have potential but need development and time.

Point is this; when we eventually trade Gordo we need good vet depth for the future. IF we were to trade Terry we need a starting caliber player who could replace Miles, or include Miles and get his replacement plus a good reserve PG. PJ is not a high minutes starter here so his role as 6th man is a good one.

Can THIS GM and staff parlay our precious few assets into what we need? I for one do NOT trust this task to them. Sadly the new ownership is still remodeling their luxury suite and too busy to address the urgent need for NEW MANAGEMENT and a NEW COACH. Until that is done I fear any moves this group may pursue.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

If we are looking to improve and be cost effective then I think it makes sense.
Barrett isn't a superstar and he has his own flaws.
But his FTr for his career is .320... we are happy with Melo attacking more this year and his is 0.211...
Immediately solves one of our biggest longterm issues with Melo/Miller not being downhill guys.
Despite him struggling from 3 the last month, he is still at his career average of 34.6% on 5 attempts. Basically a Bridges level shooter.

Then you talk about his size 6-6 and he is a solid defender.

Only 23 yrs old still.

I think Utah and Washington are both teams that could see value in consolidating some future money into expirings.

A handful of pairings
Washington
Hayward for Landry Shamet and Tyus Jones
Hayward for Wright, Shamet and Galo

Utah
Hayward for Sexton, Olynck
Hayward for Sexton/THT

Not sexy deals, but just kind of swaps that make some sense without a bunch of picks exchanging hands.

I can't tell which guy the Knicks want to give up more, Barrett or Randle. They are both super streaky, so I can see the frustration from the fans. Either one would be an interesting addition to this roster, but I'd actually prefer Randle because of the position he plays and the fact that it'd give us a true post up player who can also rebound. Cliff would be able to use him like he used Big Al. Barrett would be good too for the FT reasons you mentioned, but that seems even more feast or famine but with a longer commitment contractually.

I like the idea of the smaller trades JMAC mentioned, particularly the Utah one... though dealing with Danny Ainge makes me nervous.

In terms of splashy trades, I am telling you Zion is going to be available either this deadline or the off-season. Yes, it is a risk. Yes, he is too fat still. But there simply is no other realistic short term way for Charlotte to obtain such a player. So if NOLA finally admits he's available, what would it take and what would we be willing to give up? Not having that FRP owed to SAS hurts a lot. Could we first make a deal with them to get it back given it's protected? Idk how it works if we don't have access to it as we'd probably need to work a series of pick swaps? Could a deal centered around Hayward + name your Charlotte prospect other than Miller + picks? Would it require Mark? Bridges? PJ? No idea what NOLA would want or what would be fair given the risk/contract but pairing LaMelo up with Zion and still having Miller and Mark means this team could be a contender as early as next season if we got Zion in shape.

Zion is probably getting at least 3 unprotected picks. That is probably the starting price and will likely be more regardless of the weight issues.

Especially when teams like Spurs, Knicks, Nets,Thunder and Jazz own a 2-3x the number of picks Hornets do.

How I look at it:

Terry Rozier
Winning Offense: 91
Winning Defense: 17

RJ Barrett
Winning Offense: 68
Winning Defense: 83

With any rating below 50 actually losing games

Give me Barrett. Terry is better no question offensively but he is so bad defensively that by simply benching him we have a better chance to win. Technically Terry somehow gives up more points than he scores, which is so weird with how much he is averaging. Effort issue and he's complacent. Will probably play defense somewhere else, and we are just ****. Just my opinion of course

Ricky Rubio discussing a potential buyout.

Would be nice to finally have a legit backup PG for a change.
