Didn't a friend of his die in a car accident over the lockout and then Odom was in depression or something? I remember reading about that around that time. Anyone else think that might have trigged his drug problems?

If it's true that he's having a meltdown and on a complete drug binge, he can forget about his career, it's over and he needs major help.

Odom is already gone you cant help someone with addiction unless they want to be helped. he does not seem like he is at that point.

I'd have to be on drugs too to marry Khloe Kardashian.

His son died, the grandmother who raised him died and the car he was driving in hit a girl who died.

I was away from social media and internet for a while and returned home to the news of his drug problems. I still haven't recovered from them hitting me. God, I hope it's not really cocaine.

Debate on ESPN about whether McGrady belongs in the Hall of Fame.

another good link about it

http://statitudes.com/blog/2013/08/26/i ... -of-famer/

on stats alone i'd say yes, on personal/team accomplishments i'd say no.

on a related note, 1998-2005 is the worst 7 year span in NBA history for me (at least since ABA merger). i absolutely hated almost all the stars from that era. i hated the iso ball. the officiating was god awful. the hornets left. and the likeable players like duncan played on the most boring great team ever created.

if there is an NBA god, he will give us at least 10 minutes a game of this lineup for the clippers - collison, redick, crawford, jamison and mullens. i think that team could probably give up 40 pts in 10 minutes. maybe even throw bullock out there since we all know rookies cant defend anyone.

those playoffs game ending in scores like 82-78 from that stretch aren't exactly NBA Classic Games material so you do have a point there.

http://hoopshype.com/galleries/hoopshyp ... rs-history

time for the 76ers. lots of history. i have a feeling hoopshype and i are going to disagree on several of these. hoopshype likes to rank players pretty much based on total pts/reb/ast scored with the franshise. i prefer to use that method by give big bumps to guys who won championships with the team (especially if they were the best 1-2 players on a championship team), winning MVPs with a team, making all-star games with a team. moses malone only played 5 years with the 76ers (4 years + 1 later). during that time he won a ring as the best player on the team, won MVP, finals MVP and 4 all-star games. to me that is much more impressive than what mo cheeks or iggy did, even though they were longer and accumulated more stats. same goes for wilt. same logic is why i have erving ahead of greer. also, no way iverson is cracking my top 3. the others delivered rings and have equally impressive career stats and accomplishments.

my best guess

1.julius erving (1)
2.hal greer (3)
3.dolph schayes (8)
4.allen iverson (2)
5.billy cunningham (6)
6.charles barkley (5)
7. wilt chamberlain (4)
8.moses malone (7)
9.mo cheeks (10)
10.red kerr (9)
11.chet walker (11)
12.bobby jones (13)
13.andrew toney (17)
14.larry costello (14)
15.andre iguodala (12)

hersey hawkins ahead of andrew toney = MASSIVE FAIL HOOPSHYPE!!!!
andre iguodala ahead of bobby jones = MASSIVE FAIL HOOPSHYPE!!! - seriously, on what planet does that make sense? ARGH!!!!!!!

lets examine their careers
both played 8 years for the 76ers
jones - won a championship, made playoffs 7 times, 2 all-star games, 6th man of year (during championship year, back with that award really meant something), 6x 1st team all defense, 1x 2nd team all defense - basically the best defensive wing during his era, w/out question
iggy - no rings, made playoffs 5 times, 1 all-star game, 1x 2nd team all defense
you tell me which player had a better career with the 76ers? its like hoopshype sent an 18year old intern to do this ranking.

at least they agreed that mo cheeks didnt belong ahead of moses and wilt

dolph schayes at #8? is hoopshype randomly picking with eras they think are more important? there are not 7 players who accomplished more for that franchise than dolph.

lets take a look at dolph
played entire career with franchise, #3 all time leader in pts, #1 leader in rebounds, went to playoffs 14 times, 11 all-star games, 6x 1st team NBA, 6x 2nd team NBA, 1 championship as team's best player. yes it was a different era and nobody should think he is a better player than wilt or moses or barkley or cunningham, but in terms of what he did for that franchise, he shouldnt be 8. thats ridiculous.

this is by far the worst ranking that hoopshype has done so far, imo.

sigh, iverson is ahead of hal greer.

players i missed
15. doug collins - shouldnt get much credit for putting up stats on such an awful sixers team.

Beasley might be getting waived from the Suns. What a waste.

If he does, I would happily try him out here on a 1 or 2 year deal. Our team focuses on character too much even consider Beasley, but someone has to take a chance on his potential.

I have been a sucker in the past for wanting to take on players with crazy potential but reg flags, ie McCants, RWhite, TWillians, Cousins etc. I just can't see how these guys can't place good people around them to get their sheeit together or just do it themselves.
The thing is most of these players in this situation fail, so I don't have any more reserve for thinking these guys can turn it around, except maybe Cousins.

You and I both, but even "crazy headcase" Cousins is a near-all-star big man with plenty of room to grow.

His potential is overrated. He just isn't that good.

Maybe not, but he's definitely worth a shot at the minimum.

This is like Beasley's 4,5,6th chance already? I'm kind of a 3 strikes and you're out kind of guy.

I really wouldn't want Beasley on our team. I hope the best for him just somewhere else. I like the culture we're building but building is the key word. We need a couple of seasons with hardworking team guys before we can absorb someone who is seen as a cancer.
