I'd also love to see LaVine have to go up against Henderson's defense. He could develop quickly if he's tested like that behind the scenes.

LaVine isn't no 'project' pick. He would average in double-figures on decent efficiency should he start from day 1. It may take 2-3 years before he look like a star, but he'll be productive from his debut onward

To play Devil's Advocate for a minute...

Isn't that what everyone said about Zeller, McLemore, Harrison Barnes, etc?

I was never fond of Zeller, McLemore, or Harrison Barnes translations into the NBA. I thought Zeller would struggle to translate into a stretch 4 because his jump shot just didn't look comfortably smooth to me during summer league even though he was making it, and I was adamant about McLemore not being the player that scouts were making him out to be because of his tentative/inconsistent play & lack of playmaking skills/ball handling

LaVine on the other hand, has all of the tools to be a star in the NBA. He has elite athleticism, a silky smooth jump shot with range, and the ball handling ability combined with playmaking skills to be a star in the NBA. LaVine's body structure is a little slight right now, but he's just a kid, so he'll get stronger & fill out as time go along

Man do I want Doug McDermott on the Hornets. He would make a huge impact on this team from Day 1.

I personally wouldnt want him with a lotto pick. Maybe like the 13th pick at the very earliest.

I can easily see Doug becoming a Kyle Korver or Klay Thompson type player, probably even better because he can score in more ways than those two can and he is bigger so he will rebound better

He's a coach's son, his BBIQ is off the charts, a willing passer, understands team defense, can finish at the rim with both hands, performed last summer for the US vs. internationals & pros. Listen, people complain about how they're tired of waiting for our draft picks to develop? McDermott will be a pro's pro, he is going to have a 15 yr career putting up 15 ppg.

McDermott would look great in a Hornets jersey. He could be a rich man's Korver, which is exactly what we need

Looking at how underwhelming the over-hyped prospects of this upcoming draft class has been this year, I would absolutely take Doug McDermott in the lottery. It's not as if McDermott has just started producing as a upperclassman, because he's been putting up these numbers ever since he debuted as a freshman at Creighton.

However, it would be hard to justify taking McDermott over a guy like Zach LaVine that's oozing of talent/star potential, and it would be questionable to the point where I'd be second guessing if I'd take him before James Young, but I would definitely trade down for or select him before Gary Harris or Rodney Hood

Probably couldn't trade Zeller for a late 1st rounder

The thing with McDermott that scares me is where do you play him? He is a tweener..

He has the shooting ability to be a stretch 4, but I think defensively and on the boards he is a liablility. I do not think he is athletic enough to play the 3. At 6'8'' he is borderline on height alone let alone skill set and athleticism wise.

Not only is he not that athletic, but he is not very strongly built. He may struggle at the next level much like Zeller does with being out muscled. Don't get me wrong dude has a ratchet, but I do not know if he is a lottery pick based off of those reasons.

I think he is best suited as a guy who comes off the bench, otherwise teams will just isolate and mismatch him all day. I would love to have him on our team, just because we need a shooter, but I wouldn't take him in the top 16. I think I would rather roll the dice with Adrien Payne.

McBuckets is a swingman in the NBA. He plays where Anthony Tolliver has been playing. You use him the way GS uses Klay Thompson. The way ATL uses Korver. The way CHI uses Dunleavy. None of those guys are fast, but they have great motors, high BBIQs, are effective, and would help our team tremendously. Ditto McD.

He's even got a one legged Dirk shot. (1:36)

It's possible McDermott is around by the time we select with the POR pick.

He's out of the question for me with our own pick (7 or 8 imo) and the DET pick (9 or 10 imo).

I wouldn't mind McDermott after picking up my guys earlier (Randle + LaVine).

There's been talk we won't take 3 rookies but if we don't take on money at the trade deadline we will be freeing up a wad of cash when Gordon's + Sessions' contracts expire.

My top 10 guys I WOULD MOST ENJOY WATCHING PLAY IN A HORNETS UNIFORM. (Please understand this is not about being right or wrong about who I think is the best player, but about who I would like to watch play when I go to or turn on a Hornets game).

1. Joel Embiid
2. Jabari Parker
3. Zach Lavine
4. Doug McDermott
5. Dante Exum
6. Andrew Wiggins
7. James Young
8. Sam Dekker
9. Nick Stauskas
10. Marcus Smart

Who would you most enjoy watching be a Hornet?

1. Dante Exum (he's an Aussie!!)
2. Joel Embiid (love his foot work and smarts)
3. Jabari Parker (love his scoring and smarts)
4. Kyle Anderson (I think he has mad all around skills)
5. Zach Lavine (highlight reel kind of guy)
6. Marcus Smart (when he is on he is exciting in a bully type way)
7. Julius Randle (see Smart, Marcus)
8. Rodney Hood (I think he is kind of like a poor mans yet more refined Wallace - if that makes sense)
9. Aaron Gordon (he's powerful, explosive and athletic)
10. Andrew Wiggins (I just don't get a lot of enjoyment out of watching this kid - and I don't think he is very smart)

1-Jabari Parker (polished and poised, team leader potential)
2-Julius Randle (bulldog, super aggressive)
3-Zach LaVine (hops and shots)
4-Andrew Wiggins (freak athlete)
5-James Young (prolific scorer)
6-Doug McDermott (lights out shooter)
7-Joel Embiid (He'd be much higher without Jefferson, so I'm kind of going by need here)
8-Marcus Smart (fierce competitor, big game potential)
9-Gary Harris (fundamentally sound and consistent)
10-Willy Cauley-Stein (large and athletic, moves well and would do well with Ewing and Al)

Disclaimer: I have not seen Exum.

What if we got Zach Lavine and Julius Randle. I highly doubt it, but that might be our best outcome possible. I think both are future stars.
