He does look a lot better. Gives me hope.

I dunno, he just doesn't look like a NBA player to me.

this makes way more sense... he's been listed at 200 pounds the last two seasons. Knew that was BS given how twiggy he was. Will be interesting to see how he carries that weight.

Bump. Not a bad signature on the preseason from Monk, leading the team in points to go with 7 dimes. Hot take. He's the starter by year end. Not Bacon.

Rozier
Monk
Miles
PJ
Zeller

Graham
Bacon
Batum
Marvin
Hernangomez

He should be based on his raw talent, the jury is still out on whether that translates to the ball game consistently.

Borrego sounded startled by Monk's maturity and sound decision making. I get the feeling he sees a playoff team led by Monk one year from now. His eyes it up and, while he typically keeps composure, it was tough for him to contain himself. He had to exert strong effort to keep his cool. He's normally very difficult to read. Monk was a source of hope in that game. We all need that in our lives. Monk's talent will not go away. The question is desire. Makeup. It's clear Monk put in significant work.

I have to remind myself that Monk is just 21 years old because I'm super low on him right now. For me it feels like he has a a poor handle, poor instincts on both ends, poor decision maker on drives, and poor size for someone who lives off ball. Hope he proves to be a long term piece, but jury is very much out for me.

The most significant thing I saw in his game yesterday was that when he went to the paint and couldn't get to the basket himself, instead of always trying a turnaround jumper, he made a good pass to a teammate instead.

He also made a few more shots with contact which shows he is definitely stronger in his upper body.

Agreed. He needs to simplify things and stop trying all the highlight stuff all the time.

When he forces the issue (more often than not) it comes undone with him.

Zeller is not sexy enough for that group. I'd rather go small with Miles in his place. Yes it's a small group but we're talking intrigue here, not wins.

Although the box score might now have shown it, I thought Monk had a good game Vs the Pacers last night.

For me it's not always about what he does, but more about what he doesn't do (like make bad decisions or have massive lapses or take bad shots etc) and he hasn't been doing that these past couple of games.

He seems to be playing a LOT more in the flow of the offense and team structure of late.

Monk got the team back into the game in the late first, early 2nd when the offense couldn't get anything going. He made a lot of great passes to Bridges and Washington. We have a pretty good guard rotation right now with Rozier, Graham, and Monk.

That being said, If the team is going to keep him they need to put him in a position to succeed...Like seriously, maybe the answer to this team's dearth of shooting is a 21 year old kid already on the roster?

As I tried to say last season, Monk has the "It" factor. You cannot trade someone that young who has it. It's like the Pacers trading the rights to Kawhi Leonard for the starting point guard they desperately needed, namely George Hill. It seemed reasonable at the time, but in retrospect, it set the franchise back a decade.

Just watch. Last night was only the beginning.

It's a fun season for sure. Never imagined it possible after Kemba left. Monk is so entertaining to watch. If he gains confidence and continues to deliver while putting on more size it's only gonna get more entertaining from here. He has great chemistry with Devonté. Kemba Walker was a great influence on this group. Terry was a solid addition and PJ was a great pick. Zeller is hitting threes. Being mediocre can really drain a fan. But this is just the beginning. Our floor is higher than most imagined.

Suffice it to say that I believe the only thing holding Monk back right now is the deep ball. Hasnt shot that well from 3. When that stsrts falling, like it should. Watch out.

Monk can still use 10 to 15 more pounds, but his ability to drive the lane is such a wonderful surprise.
