Just a very weird situation all around between LA and Charlotte.

The Lakers claimed it was the Hornets who failed to provide all information on Williams and that came to them about the trade.

The Hornets say it is the other way around on both issues.

Very weird...

When did the Lakers say as much? This guy is claiming "sources" and now he's talking like the Lakers said so in a press release. Bull****.

I don't think its hypocritical to both welcome him back publicly and still fight for justice if they genuinely think we got scammed here. At the end of the day, we made follow up deals with the idea of this trade being locked in. We're asset damaged, Mark's career is damaged, LA is whole. We could be fighting for him as much as ourselves

Wild speculation, but I actually wonder if they asked Mark what he wanted us to do, and filed the protest after they talked to him. It's a super awkward spot, but I could see working with his agent and being like we're willing to challenge this if you are.

Mark definitely has some incentive to ditch his scarlet letter and get LAL to backtrack if they are criticizing his medicals unfairly.

Hopefully it was a mutual decision between Mark and the team if they are literally trying to force the trade through, otherwise I hope it turns out its just a petition of some sort to try to get LA to forfeit some 2nd round picks to them and clear their name.
