People still like Wake Forest? Talk about a school in the dump right now. Same for State.

I literally fell off my couch and kept my face on the carpet for about a minute after that flag was thrown, knowing the Patriots would score on the ensuing final play (thankfully that play never occured). What a game.

Can someone explain how that flag in the Panthers / Patriots game could have been "called back?" I'm pretty sure I've seen interceptions overturned because there was pass interference / illegal contact (not sure if that's what it is called) on a receiver away from where the ball was being thrown.

The flag was originally thrown because the ref made a reactionary judgement call when he saw Kuech all over Gronk. However, the refs determined that Brady's short throw, coupled with Gronk's momentum toward the back of the end-zone (the opposite direction of the ball), made the pass "uncatchable," and thus, the play not subject to an interference call.

Now, whether it truly was uncatchable is a whole other argument, but I'm happy to be on the winning side of one of these iffy calls.

If Gronkowski would have atleast acted like he wanted to catch the ball it could have been a different story. He acted like he was the ball was short, and back pedaled on his own.

Sports Science (ESPN thing) did a test on that call, they figured out that Gronk could've gotten that pass but was extremely unlikely, so they got the call right basically uncatchable, only reason people are even making this a big deal is because the ref threw the flag then picked it up...and its the Pats

the pass was 6yds in front of Gronk and about 4ft off the ground, he would've literally had to shove Luke out of the way (offensive pass interference?) lunged forward a few feet get full extension and grab the ball inches off the ground and also get there before Lester INT's it, and Luke grabbed him .667 seconds before Lester INT'ed the ball, so he would've had about 2 seconds ( w/o Luke messing with him) to get that ball before Lester got it or it hit the ground, which is basically impossible

I still don't understand the call, given calls I've seen in other games. I know that I've seen calls where there was a similar scuffle on one side of the field, the ball was thrown to the other side and intercepted, and the call was overturn because of a flag being called on the scuffle, well away from where the ball was thrown. Are you saying that the Patriots were essentially penalized for throwing TO Gronkowski in the midst of that scuffle? If the ball had been thrown to another receiver and there was that sort of contact with Gronkowski and the defender, would it not have been correct to throw a flag in that situation due to the contact?
