Is there a Ball for Harper trade where salary could be matched? #2 and #4 would allow us to really build. I like that better than 4 firsts for Ball.

I’ve said it before, if we are all in on Ball we need to trade this pick and get a good vet (for a win now move playoff run). I don’t think the number 4 in this draft alone gets us that much farther and my concern is we lose Ball for peanuts in the future.

Regardless of what you think of Perkins (I enjoy his commentary), we better be actively either shopping Ball or moving the pick in a trade for an established vet because no one at 4 is going to make that much of a difference for our team.

Heck, if we could move Ball and get the number 2, it opens up the door to draft Ace at number 4. You can tell him you might actually become the number 1—not happening with Ball. And FWIW, I’m not anti Ball, I just think there is a point you consolidate your draft capital and try to get another star beside your star. The TJ draft last year kind of solidified my opinion.

Nah, #2 is more valuable than LaMelo right now. Especially for the Spurs who already have multiple point guards.

"I'm hearing that" = I have seen random tweets about it

Perk definitely does not have a line in to our FO.

No doubt about Perkins “validity”…but I posted it since it’s just another log on the fire of several sounding this bell. Maybe nothing happens, but seems a lot of chatter within circles picking up on a Ball trade.

Agree there is no path toward a deal with the Spurs. Teams needing/wanting a big time PG are the Nets, Pelicans and Wiz. I’ve tried to come up with a New Orleans deal, but it’s not so easy. I don’t see them trading Zion nor the Hornets doing that for Melo without extras. Tried Melo and Miles. Tried getting Murphy plus a big contract/not so good players (of course need to include 7 and 23 also) but it’s hard to find the right numbers that work relative to our trade exception.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

It's definitely being discussed. He has his father and brothers pushing him to the Clippers.

LaMelo is probably comfortable in Charlotte, but the people around him wants him closer to home.

I said before it doesn't matter if we keep him or trade him just make a commitment.

Kendrick Perkins is barely functional.

I would be pleasantly surprised if Kendrick Perkins could point to the Carolinas on a map, let alone knows anything basketball related that goes on here

Well for half the season he wouldn't really have to.

Yeah if your desire is to get all the shots and minutes you could possibly want then you should love playing for us. If you can get up and down the court without dying and hit a shot every once in a while you’re our 2nd option at worst by about mid November

Y'all blaming Ace for everything lol

I'm thinking it's Fears who also plays PG. Why would Ace not want to play with Melo?

Read the tea leaves. There is story after story that Ace is getting awful advice and has refused to work out for a lot of teams. It makes complete sense that it’s him here.

I’m so so out on us selecting him in any situation. He’s talented but there’s no way this is the sort of thing that will work out for us

That doesn’t make any sense to me. LaMelo is not a ball hog at all, if you have any talent whatsoever he’s going to get you lots of open looks in transition and find you in the halfcourt

Has LaMelo’s reputation tanked that much that people think he’s a shot chucker now? Does anyone even watch basketball?
