Going to Mohegan Sun Casino in CT friday for Jim Calhoun Charity game. Kemba will be there along with other UCONN alums like Ray, Drummond, Lamb and Rudy Gay should be a really good time. I hope I run into Kemba in the casino after that would be pretty cool.

Beer menu alone would pull me in. On my to-do list!
My picks:

haven't heard anything about it, but I guess it's likely.

Congrats to Mourning making the HOF. Didn't see it mentioned anywhere else but if so I just missed it.

Game 4 1993 BOS. vs. CHA is on NBATV right now for anyone wanting to watch #spacingproblems.

Reminds me that I need to go through my VHS tapes and get my games on my PC. I have every Hornets playoff game on tape as well as a lot of others including match ups between Mourning and Shaq.

My mom got so mad at me one year because we ran out of tapes and I used my 6th grade graduation tape to record the All-Star game. Obviously I didn't care then but I kind of regret it now.

Apparently there is some speculation that Carowinds might be building a Charlotte Hornets themed roller coaster ???

I'd welcome the **** out of a MLS team. I'd rather have one in the Triangle for selfish reasons but either location would do great I think. I went to the Liverpool - AC Milan match last weekend and BoA was **** rocking.

i'd love to get an MLS team here, but it seems like an extreme long shot. we have a very small soccer footprint when compared to former and current NASL cities. right now the charlotte eagles play in the USL, which is equivalent to division 3. does anyone even go to the charlotte eagles games? according to wiki, the eagles are one of the few USL teams that is not affiliated with a current MLS team. not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing.

MLS = D1
NASL = D2
USL = D3

Current NASL teams that would seemingly be ahead of us towards getting an MLS team

atlanta silverbacks
carolina railhawks (raleigh)
fc edmonton - seems doubtful they could land an MLS team
ft lauderdale strikers - MLS already putting two teams in florida, so this is doubtful, even though they have long NASL history
indy eleven
ny cosmos - cant see this happening with two NY teams in MLS already (or soon to be). btw, cosmos documentary on netflix is worth watching
ottawa fury - slam?
san antonio scorpions
tampa bay rowdies - same as strikers

new 2015 NASL teams
jacksonville armada
oklahoma city fc
virginia calvalry

seems our best bet is to dump the charlotte eagles (who are a christian run soccer team - that last i heard have no interest in moving up to a bigger division) and replace them with an NASL team called the queen city fc and then after showing good support for a few years and building a soccer specific stadium, then we can try to get in the MLS.

and what do we even know about this queen city fc MLS push? could just be a couple of teens who are bored and started a twitter account. they only have 274 followers on twitter. is this even a real thing?

OK, so apparently currently qcfc is a youth select team in vermont - similar to the youth select teams i played for back in the day, like charlotte junior, park sharon, sardis shockers etc...

oh, and apparently there is already a semi pro team in buffalo playing with the same name.

so, not sure how that would work, you know, with trademark laws and such.

are all of these queen city fc teams connected? the semi pro team in buffalo, supporting youth teams in vermont, and with a grass roots campaign to move to charlotte to become an MLS team or 3 completely separate entities?

I had field seats for that. It was a fun game to watch.

thanks JD, this explains alot, but at the same time still leaves me confused.

the article confirms what i had previously thought that the current owners of the eagles never had interest in playing in higher leagues because they run the team as a christian ministry (hence the non-profit comment). the eagles won their league previously and from what i was told, turned down promotion (this was a few years ago before the current us soccer pyramid was formed).

so are the new owners of the charlotte eagles related to the queen city fc stuff? the article didnt hint at the eagles changing their name, now or in the future.

they would have to do a lot of work to make memorial stadium a place that an MLS team would be proud to play in. that stadium is a complete dump. seems they have been doing renovations of that stadium for the past 5 years with lots more to come. they'd have to put in all news seats (currently just metal benches), boxes and suites (currently none), improve parking (one small parking deck and a few small lots), and widen the field as they mentioned.

(fun fact - my dad played his high school football at memorial stadium when he went to central high school in charlotte (what is now the CPCC campus).

i HATE the idea of soccer being played on turf. that alone is almost enough to make me root against this endeavor.

Just wow @ Tony Stewart. I'm sure he didn't intend to kill the kid but his racing career, ownership career is over now.
