Too old, and hes due nearly 25 million over the next 2 seasons.

He would add even more toughness though and we'd be going for it all short term.

Still wouldn't make it out of the east with him.

All things equal we probably wouldn't get past the Bulls but injuries happen, suspensions also so you just never know.

Unless West is going to back up Al he doesn't fit Cliff's system. Toughness is nice but #spacing is a thing.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

He has one of the best mid range jumpers in the game, he has also been known to step back farther.

Mid-range =/= outside shot. 10 years ago West is what you wanted in a PF. Today he's fighting against new trends and rules.

West would bring plenty of spacing. All they wanted from Zeller last year was to hit the FT line extended jumper and that's West's wheelhouse and then some. On top of that, he's a good passer and screen setter. The only negative is that with him and Al on the floor we'd be awful at guarding stretch bigs.

On the topic of #spacing, Zach Lowe wrote a lengthy piece on NBA bigs. He goes into great depth about spacing and PF/C combos.

Great article as usual by Lowe. I think his assertion that bigs that can draw consistent double teams and pass out of them effectively can create just as much spacing as a big shooting from distance does. Ideally, I think you'd like to have both.

I still think we need to bring in more shooting. What do you think it will take to get Kevin Martin? Not much right? Bad contract, 31, defensive liability, Minnesota doesn't want him...

Hendo & Neal for Martin?

I wish we could get West. We need another guy who can score inside and West would space the floor fine, just not out to the 3pt line. He may be older but I don't think his game is going to drop off dramatically.

I'd be willing to give up some combination of Zeller, Hairston, Taylor, Late 1st, Neal or Henderson.

My preference would be to give up Zeller, Hairston, and Taylor but I doubt that works salary wise.

Walker/Roberts
Lance/Hendo/Neal
MKG/CDR
West/Williams/Vonleh
Al/Biz

I think we'd win our division and be a really tough out in the playoffs.

I would rather see how Hairston develops and deal Henderson, Hairston could end up a damn good shooter.

Don't you guys think Brandon bass would be a great fit for this team? Very good mid range game and actually a very good defender. He'd be perfect with us in my opinion

I think the time for Bass being here was long ago. He is not the player he once was, and undersized.

Our front office has talked about seeking a backup 5. I think that is exactly their target. Not convinced they would do any deal trading a SG unless it is a clear upgrade to get that reserve 5. I also think that, short of getting such a deal, they will enter camp with this group, and likely put off any deal until the trade deadline.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Just curious how Hornets felt if this trade offer was proposed at the trade deadline this upcoming season... Jeremy Lin for Gilchrist and Zeller.

Reasoning: Zeller and Gilchrist seem like expendables with Biyombo and Jefferson as the centers. Vonleh should get some time at the 4 with floor-spreading capabilities... a good match with Jefferson for the paint. Gilchrist is the energy, defensive guy, but Williams and even Stephenson can take over that role. Lin can play point or the 2 and will give Charlotte some playoff experience. Good depth at PG as well.

Thoughts?

(This is more of an attempt to gauge Zeller and Gilchrist's value, as well as see if you project future interest in another PG such as Jeremy Lin)

Value aside for a moment, you are essentially proposing that the Hornets trade a starter and someone that might start for a reserve. That's a no-go right there by itself.
My picks:
